Welcome back!

I want to let you know that the profile you wrote up for Jim's "lesser friends" moved me to tears. What an incredible journey!

What stood out for me is that you have accomplished your childhood dream of becoming a flight attendent. At this point, you shouldn't give up on those other childhood fantasies. There is so much more life to live and you seem to just dive in. So why settle now??

Good things happen for good people. The wind is gonna blow your way.

(I especially liked these parts of your story)

"I look hot in my flight attendant’s uniform (that’s a quote straight from the BCH)."

"I’m learning how to deal with men hitting on me–I just offer them my husband’s phone number, and tell them to call him first. Nobody’s taken me up on it yet"

AND NOW THEY WON'T HAVE TO!!!!!

Default Thanks, guys...

Wasn't sure of my welcome, and so pleased to be greeted with open arms. This place remained in my heart, and I couldn't stay away.

Unfortunately, the flight attendant thing is also done--first, because I can't make enough money to pay rent, eat AND pay the bills that honor dictates that I assume as soon as I'm able. Second, because layoffs (or what they call furloughs) are eminent... the industry is suffering due to high fuel costs and the crappy economy, and cutting numbers of flights has already begun. My paychecks had diminished by more than $400 from January to April due to cuts in routes, and it was only going to get worse...

My husband will provide support and pay all the bills until I get a job--and West Texas is where the jobs are. The boom in oil and gas exploration is completely due to the high profit margins available through the same high prices that were ditching my flight attendant's job. There's a little irony for ya.

Also in West Texas (Fort Stockton, to be exact) is my family... people I have missed so much I just ached with it. I will be home in time to see my niece in her school play, in which she sings the lead. We are not a shy bunch.

Anyway, the trivia just helps distract me from the reality, which is that I have pretty much set fire to my whole life, and I'm watching it burn to the ground. As of Monday, when I reach Texas, I will have few of the things that I had when I began this journey 2 years and 8 months ago... Except me. And my family. I'm both terrified and exhilarated. And exhausted.
