Default Started pre-op liquid diet today

Good Morning All,

I had my pre-admission testing this past Thursday and everything went well. I have a B12 deficiency but other than that no problems. My surgery is scheduled for April 3rd. Today I started the 10 day clear liquid diet. So far so good except that I tried to mix protein powder with boullion. That didn't work, it was a pasty mess.

Tomorrow will also be a challenge as I am going to NY to see a show with my 13 year old god daughter. I have planned ahead and bought some premixed shakes to take along. My challenge will be drinking shakes while she feasts on pizza. I'm pretty confident I'll be ok.

Thanks to all of those who posted before us. I have really found this forum very comforting and informative.

Best,
Teresa

Good Luck vibes coming your way! the first week of my pre op diet was hardest, byt the second week I was just disgusted, but complacent. But I can say, that pre op diet prepares you for what lies ahead. I am 7 days post op and would love some cottage cheese at this point. I will be thinking of you, pm if you need anything

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

OH girl...I am post op and I went to the doc today and he told me I need to be on full liquids for 3 more weeks. So that will be a total of 6 weeks liquid. Whew...thank goodness for new whey vials. I have finally figured out the best way to take them, and that is only 42 grams of protein.

PS...it's not as hard post op because it is SOOOOO hard to drink enough all day. And you know you HAVE to, no choice. Pre op, you want to cheat because you know that you can have it, you just are not supposed to.

I have to say though, I never cheated, I cried, but did not cheat on the pre op diet, and my surgeon told me at the hospital that my surgery was super easy because of my liver being so small.

Hey! I'm new here ... I had my surgery on the 6th of this month, not quite 3 weeks yet. But I'm curious as to why you would be on clear liquids for 10 days. My doctor had me on clear liquids the day before surgery, and nothing by mouth the day of surgery. I ate normally up until the day before ... so why 10 DAYS?!
