Smile Thanks Everyone ..

It's nice to know that I am not the "only" one who has these problems.

I had to see the Nutritionist today, and weigh in .. I stayed the same. Which in itself is not a bad thing considering that amount of food that had alot of sodium this week.

The point is well made that for now I need to focus on better choices and the non-scale victories, like smaller clothes. And later when I am better able to control my dependence on the "number". And allowing it to decide how I feel and how my day is going I can get another one.

Default Hi, My Name Is Izan!!

HI, MY NAME IS IZAN AND I AM A SCALE WHORE. I don't mean just a little here and there, I mean at least 3 times a day. I just can't seem to stay away from it. It is more addictive than the food that got me here. I think I am going to place them downstairs, so at least if I think I have to be scale whore, I can get exercise running up and down the stairs 3 times a day.

Today I weigh in 3 lbs more than yesterday. No, the easter bunny is not on my back feeding me chocolates like I wish for, but mother nature is coming instead for the 5th time since December and rearing her ugly water gain at me. So I am trying not to get disappointed with the scale and keep telling myself this ugly pms sh-t will wash it self away in about 7 days.

Good luck to all my other scale whore comrades, and have a nice night!!!!

Default Scales and Numbers, yuck!!!!

Ok I a too am a scale fanatic and since the surgery have weighed about 10 times(once a month average). It is a part of the cycle we were all trapped in. The number of your waist and what your tonage is are way more important, also the results from the checkups of your blood work and heart tell alot. We must revolt together and start a scale rebellion.
When I was younger and played the many yoyo diet games, the scale was something that I used multiple times a day. Today I want a new attitude about living and that attitude is not about getting on a scale everyday and seeing what number I come to. For me it is the waking up and feeling good, having the possibility to move freely and easier in the world.
Good for you that have made the decision to get that scale out of the house or at least way from your feet.
Weighing when you see you Dr or surgeon is a great idea, this way it is not something that is done as part of a daily ritual.
Good luck to anyone out there who is fighting against the scale monster.

My fiancé has been trying to get me to give up my scale, but I'm just not really ready to do that yet. I know my clothes are not getting any bigger, and the scale hasn't moved by 1 or 2 lbs in weeks and weeks now.

He says, Kel.. just weigh yourself once a week.. but whether I weigh once a day or once a week.. no movement on that thing is no movement on that thing.. waiting a few days doesn't change that and the stress of it all is really getting to me.. but I just cannot bring myself to get rid of it.

Default Scale Whores UNITE!

I think that we should throw all the scales out the window, just like aon some crazy commercial.

But seriously, since I am in a "weight management program" and weigh in about every two to three weeks. I know where I am.

And later If I am lucky enough to complete the insurance process and get approved and have the GP, I will be checking in with my surgeon's office serveral times for the first six months.

So maybe after that I will be ready to use the scale as a tool for my healthy lifestyle and not to determine how my day is.

Thanks Everyone !

hmmm I'm trying to fool myself into believing that this new scale at the store (that measures hydration levels) - well I'm gonna get it and use it for being sure I stay hydrated, right? right?

I want a scale in a baaad way lol. I do like the idea of putting it in the basement so that if I do decide I want to check at least I get a flight of stairs out of it!!

For those of us that did weigh ourselves everyday, normally our body weight will be different everyday. Either due to water retention, did you have a BM yet. It's normal....but frustrating as hell! I lost steadily until I got to where I am during the first year post op. But my weight would go up a pound and down a pound, up a pound and down a pound. I lost a total of 150 lbs, but in actuality, I think I lost 550 lbs because I kept losing that same damn pound over and over and over again!!!! I took me a long time to get myself to weigh only a couple times a month. The good thing is that I never did anything unhealthy by weighing myself everyday. Like, I wouldn't starve myself or do extra exercise and stuff like that. Not there totally yet, but I am getting a healthier attitude about the scale and keeping myself on track by using it as a tool. That damn daily scale habit was/is harder to quit than friggin cigarettes! I actually think quitting smoking was easier than the scale. Go figure! Sue
