Default Support needed for eating and after.

I have posted this same information on another thread, as I wasn't sure where I should go with the question so it could be seen and I can get some feedback.
Once again I am posting something that is not so wonderful to bring up or talk about.
This situation is daily and sometimes really gets me feeling a bit frustrated and not liking some of the changes that I have made to my body as it is something I never experienced until after having the operation of lap. gastr. bypass.
Ok, I have been thinking about posting this thread and my questions for some time. Not sure why I have waited. So here it goes and I am hoping a will get a variety of responses so I can see some options and try out some news ways of attacking this problem I have daily.
What do your meals consist of on a daily basis, just an example of one or two days of eating.
I eat my protiens, take my vitamins and mineral supplements faithfully and do pretty good with my water.
I have terrible problems with always feeling the need to use the restroom, usually it is air, however feels like I must go. I have developed a hemaroid(gross, sorry) and it really is disturbing. I wake up several times at night with the same sensation of needing to use the restroom, usually with the same result of only have air. Then there are the times when things come through with a forse in behind it or oily substance.
I am thinking that I am eating something that is making this happen, so I need some examples of what people are eating. Or if anyone experiences something similar with the sensations I have, what are you doing to resolve the issues. I am going to bring it up with my medical team this coming week and see what they have to say also. But I find that they are vague sometimes and so it helps getting the real persons take on it all.

Currently this is my typical eating plan: a wise man suggested I include this and also a wise woman pointed out I may be getting to much fat in the diet, but here it goes:

Breakfasts usually consist of: Non fat, non sugared yogurt(strawberry or grapefruit) somedays it is a protien bar ranging from 14 gr -32 gr protien or there are days I have about 1/3 cup of nut and wheat cereal with about 1/3 cup low fat milk with 1/2 banana.

Lunch is typically cottage cheese with peper on top, somedays I have a couple baby dill pickles too, occasionally I eat about 1 oz of nuts(peanuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds and a little sesame seed)-weekdays. Once a week lunch can consist of pasta with tomatoe/hamburger ragu, beef roasted 2-3 oz, oven roasted potato 1/2 med. size, veg.(insalata, tomatoes with spices on top,) 1oz cheese pecorino(goat) or parmigiano, fruit 1/2 apple or pear or orange or sometime strawberries.

Dinner somenights is broth with pasta, insalata, and a fruit. Occasionally I have some beverage with my meals, like water, acqua tonic or about 1/3 glass of red wine.

Once a week or so eat out in Italian ristorants, usually pasta with bean soup and about 2 oz. grilled beef.

Being in Italy olive oil is a staple in the cooking and used on everything.

Hope this enlightens more to maybe what I am doing.

Thanks Everyone.

I am sure you are not alone in your situations....I have the sensation of having to go and it just being air and I did develop those other little buggers too (hemmeroids). The gas I have now is HORRIBLE!! It really feels like when I was pregnant with the twins. I can feel it moving around and I sometimes can lay there and watch my stomach move.....if I didn't know any better I'd wonder if I was pregnant but I know better. LOL!

As for how I eat it really depends but most days I eat a protein bar for breakfast, if I get hungry before lunch I'll eat half a banana or some strawberries. Then for lunch I will either eat another protein bar or some string cheese and some tuna or a salad with hard boiled egg and cheese. For dinner I eat whatever meat I make with some veggies or some chili from Wendys or if I make something I can't eat I have another protein bar. It's so hard cause every day is different. For snacks I will grab a cheese stick, some nuts or fruit. Hope that helps.

Paul, I'm so sorry you're having some problems. You've been through so much and I really hope you can get past this soon. Issues with our bowels are some of the most disturbing and embarrassing and you are brave and smart for bringing it up. As for me, I've had several surgeries in a short period of time and after each one, my bowels were messed up somehow. Since my gastric bypass, I've had issues with constipation and take stool softeners every day. I'm also working on adding more fiber, but its not easy.

My daily food includes coffe with milk or a latte, sometimes a protein bar for breakfast, either half a sandwich or part of a frozen meal for lunch, or sometimes greek yogurt with granola, and today I had lowfat beef barley soup for dinner. I often have a snack of peanut butter pretzels, nuts, or crackers in late morning or afternoon. I also always have some sort of protein drink. I hope this helps you in some way, but you might have to go to the doctor for this, sorry to say. Please let us know how this goes.

i really thought i was getting enough calories in but when i added them up i really am not getting more than 500/day in so i'm thinking thats why i keep stalling too

Paul, it may be easier for you to tell us what you are eating and maybe we can identify something that may be causing you this discomfort. For example, broccoli is one of those foods that is highly absorbed, but emits a great deal of gas for certain people. Is your diet high in fiber?

I have now added the foods I am eating hoping it might give some clues to what I am doing.

Thanks

Hi Paul

I really wish I could give you some sound medical advice but alas only your doctor can do that.

The first thing that springs to mind when reading your diet is the amount of carbs in there. Whenever I eat bread or pasta I get really really gassy and have bad diarrohea. Perhaps this could be the cause?

I hope you can get it figured out!

I eat mostly protein, for all meals, and veggies, fruits and carbs - I drink lots of coffee and crystal lite and hot tea too.

Breakfast - high protein Oatmeal, cup of strawberries, or a yogurt (lowfat/sugar always)
Snack - nuts of some sort (almonds, cashews, a Kashi bar, sunflower seeds)
Lunch - a south beach meal (low carb) or baked chick or meat with veg side
Snack - more nuts, maybe a 100 cal. pack of popcorn, chocolate sometimes
Dinner - meat of some sort (usually pork or chicken) steamed veg, pasta or rice sometimes, beans alot too (baked or redbeans/rice)
Snack - nuts, 100 cal. pack of chips, milk, or fruit or maybe some chocolate

Oh, and here's the kicker... my favorite veggies are broccoli, cauliflower, and beans. So I am a GAS MACHINE. LOL, but I love those veggies so I must put up with it.

I prepare any meats I pan cook in XVOO, so you're doing fine there... I go back and forth between constipation (when I don't get in enough fluids) to sometimes explosive horrible diahrrea (sorry, but that's the whole reason for this thread). Most times it is a regular consistency and is not as often as I used to when I ate MASSIVE AMOUNTS of food (I'd go poo about four times a day)... Me and my other bypassers (I work with FOUR) all agree we have the most horrendous gas of anyone we know, and my nine year old son can attest to that too.

Our bellies are changed forever and so anything going in, and the combination of things you put in, obviously change up the whole plan in there - combine that with a short time for breakdown (not as much gastric juice) and strange things can happen - if this is bothersome to a point where it affects your life, get thee to a doctor and nutritionist, and see if you can work out some solutions... otherwise, get used to excusing yourself and finding a breezy walkway alone, lol. GOOD LUCK!

I have bouts of gas every once in a while. I know you're overseas so hopefully you can find similar products there.

I have found that mine is worse at night so before I eat dinner I generally take 2-3 Beano tablets with a small amount of fluid. I generally don't drink very much with my meals, maybe a sip or two but not much more then that. If I notice the gas pain at night after dinner I will take 2 gas-ex thin strips. If it is REALLY bad I will also take a regular gas-ex pill.

I'm never sure what it is that causes the gas but it HURTS and it just makes me feel crappy so I do what I can to make it better.

If you're noticing an abundance of gas in your digestive tract you may want to try some anti-gas medicine and see if it helps. Really for me it's the only thing that has.
