Need to lose some weight before surgery
I am getting a little frustrated at myself because I can't seem to lose any weight before my clear liquids start. I weighed 244 when I was approved because I had lost a lot of weight and was on my way back up (again). My doctor told me then to lose 20-25 pounds before surgery. However, I took a year to follow through with it because I convinced myself (again) that I could do it on my own since I had lost 90 pounds the previous year.
Fear and emotional situations set in, and I gained 36 pounds which put me a little over where I was when I started the last diet (280 lbs). Then my body started to show signs, and I knew I couldn't do it on my own and had to follow through with the surgery!
Now I'm emotionally, and physically prepared to make the lifestyle change, but I've only lost eight pounds and can't seem to lose more. My pre-surgery hospital visit is the 24th, followed by the doctor's visit. He put me on antibiotics for two weeks for my stomach, so I don't start the liquids until next Sunday. I'm really scared he'll push my surgery back if I don't lose.

Anna,
Congrats on your decision for WLS. I totally understand your inability (frustration) on trying to lose weight. But just know that this is the LAST time you'll have to "go on a diet"...after your surgery of course you'll have a lifestyle change...but not a "diet"!
Good luck and I know you can do this!! Only 2 more weeks...yeah for you!

Perhaps that's what's wrong because I'm eating less (probably the wrong thing), but only twice a day. I usually lose real fast, and put it back on real fast (hence WLS). This time I guess I'm more stressed about it because I don't want the doctor to push me back

I was required to lose 10-15lb pre surgery.
My NUT was a great help. I ate 5 times a day. 3 small meals and 2 snacks.
The meals were small - breakfast was a liquid protein drink, lunch was a whole can of something like Progresso soup (around 200 cals total) and supper was fish or lean meat with veggies.
The snacks were raw veggies and fruit.
You can do this - focus on your ultimate goal which is surgery.

You're right Corrine...I can do this! My friends say they can't imagine the nurse scheduling my surgery if they thought there was a chance he'd re-schedule. I'm just getting anxious and want to see the scale move Thank God I found my new TT friends! .

Anna
I was having the same problem (my surgery is Monday) about a month ago. My nut told me to start for one week drinking a protein shake for a meal, then the next week doing 1-2, and then on my third week I was to go all liquids (I had 2 weeks of liquids). It kind of made it easy for me to try new proteins, see what worked for me, AND it jumpstarted my weight loss. I could only lose 3-5 pounds prior to that, and now I have lost about 24 total, and I had to lose 15 before surgery. Just an idea...and btw I know it sucks to have to drink for meals, but really it does work!
