Default I need an kick in the butt

This weekend I started having really sharp pains in my lower stomach. They were shooting up through my rib cage. I tolerated it for a few hours in bed when I realized I couldn't get up from the position I was in. I told DH there is something wrong. I had the chills and was in to much pain to move. I thought for sure it had something to do with WLS. I finally said take me to the hospital.

On the way there I had to pant it hurt to breathe. I was scared to death and on the way I kept telling myself I waited to long to go and something is drastically wrong.

I was given an IV as soon as I got there. I had a shot for nausea and 3 shots for pain. I had to zone out, get out of my head because the pain was so bad.

I did urine and blood work then off to xrays. The xrays came back ok, that was a relief. Turns out I had a really bad bladder infection that was causing my bladder to spasm.

I have had kidney surgery in the past and this is nothing new for me. I am on pain meds and antibiotics.

The problem is I am now sick to my stomach and I have not had any food or vitamins since Sat. I tried to eat lunch and its not agreeing with me.

I need to get back on track but feel like crap. Should I go back to soups for a few days? Not sure how to get every thing in with an upset tummy.

If soup is all you can tolerate at this point, then by all means, eat as much as you can. You definitely need to get some kind of nourishment. Hope you're feeling better soon!

I know when I had my gallbladder out I had to go back to my stage one liquids diet for a few days. I think you should definitely take it easy and eat soups of whatever you can stomach. All the meds could be helping in making you nauseous as well. Good luck hope you get to feeling better.

Smile soft diet

Hi Nextbigloser,

I would go back to a soft diet - soup, oatmeal, protein shakes, mashed potatoes, ect...... Sip, sip on water all day.

Yep, I'd go back to the basics...just to keep your little pouch happy! They can be so tempermental sometimes...just like a man! (I just had to add that in). Hopefully within a few days or so you'll be feeling better. Keep us posted, okay?

Kim - there is no way any of us are gonna kick you in the butt! you've been ILL and you are RECOVERING! Poor baby!

I'd focus on the liquids right now --- making sure your bladder is flushing things through, healing!

HUGs hon... and hugs for your hero-hubby too! Glad he's there for you!

Default You poor thing!

Sure hope you feel better soon, Kim. I know how those spasms feel.

I once had bowel spasms brought on by stress - I thought I was having a miscarriage it felt so bad (even though I knew I was not pregnant), the pain was horrible! So glad you went to the hospital.

Let us know how you are doing. Soups sound good to me but just take one day at a time and tolerate what you can. You're doing super so far on your weight loss.

Hugs,
Kimberly

Kim, so glad you got yourself in to the ER. Don't sweat the protein and calories right now. Work on getting your fluids in to flush out those kidneys and bladder. That is the most important. If you feel like your pouch will tolerate soups I would certainly go with that. Like others suggested go back to the liquids and soft foods....soups, carnation inst. breakfast, yogurt...

Just take it easy on your pouch and yourself. I hope you start to feel better soon.
