Unhappy Toony's Mom...

Hi all... I was going to PM about my mom, but realized I have too many friends here and would be up all night doing so...

My mom, bless her heart is dying. She's in a coma, and being given morphine every 30-90 min. I spent the afternoon and evening with her and my siblings... and have cried buckets! Mom has been in a care center since June, with cancer that is not treatable. I was afraid to leave tonight, not wanting her to die alone...

My dad still lives in their huge house, and is not in very good shape himself. He's too ornery for any kind of facility. My sister Jane and I had to go talk to him tonight about funeral arrangements. He thought they wouldn't have anything... just donate her body to science and be done with it.

I had been pretty quiet up to this point, letting Jane do most of the talking. His comments put me over the edge. I said, "I can't have a mom one day and then nothing the next... and throw a party in 3 or 6 months to say good bye to her..." and broke down into tears. A funeral or memorial is not for the one who died, but for those left behind... there WILL BE some sort of service in the days following her death... (score one for weepy child no.3)

The days ahead look dark and scary... I know you'll all be thinking of me and sending good wishes... just wanted to let you know where I am and why I'm not posting...

... for awhile!

Love,
Katie

Of course our thoughts and prayers are with you Katie. How blessed you've been to have both your parents all these years...though this does not make parting with them any easier. We'll all be here for you should you need anything. Gentle hugs and caring thoughts coming your way. Take care Katie.

Katie,

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom...

My Mom died of cancer when I was 33. It was long and awful.

I want you to try and take some comfort in how long you had her in your life. Nothing will make the loss of a Mom less painful...but if you try and recognize how much time you did have with her...and all of the contributions she had in your life...its something to hang on to.

I will be thinking of you. ((((((HUGS))))))

Dear Katie im sorry to hear this my thoughts and prayers are with you God will give you strength and help you thru this... big Hugs

Life is hard,
Life is tough,
You need to be strong,
And never give up

There may be days,
That never seem to end,
And you feel like you,
Don't have a friend,

But keep on walking
Down that road,
Your friends will follow
And bear your load,

But face each day,
And what it brings,
And you'll be ready,
To face any thing

So remember this,
Time goes way to fast,
So make the moments last
