He needs help. He is having delusions. This is not anxiety. This could possibly be schizophrenia. Late teens is about the age when most symptoms start to show up. He also may using drugs. If he has used LSD, he could be having flashbacks. Either way, it's not anxiety and he needs help. God bless! Sue

Janine, I have dealt with panic and anxiety for over 14 years now. I can relate directly to what you are saying about your son. My story is a very long and complicated one, but there is hope -- more hope for panic/anxiety today than there was 14 years ago.

I will be glad to talk about this with you and if there is anything I can offer, I will be more than willing to do so. Just send me a message and let me know.

Janine, I fully understand. I have a 16 year old son who is going through some issues as well. At first I wrote it off to "typical teen behavior", but it got no better, in fact, worsened. My husband and I were at a loss and found a very good therapist, who my son is currently working with. Some things have improved - it has been a slow process, but one small positive step at a time. He has not been treating very long, but he likes the therapist and I believe is building a trust to try to move forward. This might be a route for your son as well. My son got in briefly with the wrong crowd and now he is trying to break those ties and straighten his head out. Maybe therapy would be a place to at least start for your son to sort out what is going on. I wish you and your son the very best.
