Default Hello My TT Friends

Hello and thanks for the PM's asking where I was! It's been a crazy fall! My mom was/is very sick with MS and a life threatening infection. It finally came to the point where we thought we were going to lose her, so since all her children (there are 5 of us) are in OC and one in San Diego, we decided to move her down here. I flew up to Sacramento on a Thurs night and on Friday morning at 7:30 am I was in a transport ambulence with her for 10 hours! What a ride!! I thought for sure, she was going to die with me in that ambulence somewhere on the way down south!! She made it, and so did I. She's doing much better in the nursing home that is closeby us, but it's been very hard as my spare time that I used to be on the computer here, I've been visiting her and doing things for her.

Some things I've learned from this experience:

*I've learned having GB was the best thing I could've done for myself...My mom is obese and I see how much harder it is on her now that she's ill!
*I've learned that I can fit in the airplane seat and cross my legs!
*I've learned that I have the extra energy to take care of my family and spend time with my mom...a year ago, that wouldn't be so!
*I've learned that stress is no excuse for over eating.
*I've learned that running to sugary foods for comfort makes me sick!!!!!
*I've learned that people sure are more attentive to smaller people.
*I've learned that I will not become my mom because I decided to stop the cycle of obesity and not use food as my drug of choice.

I wish I had time to go back and read all things I've missed lately on here...I guess I'll just start with today and check in daily. Thanks, my friends!

Hi Miss K... I am dealing with aging/needy parents too... plus a disabled husband. I have about ZERO energy, and look forward to feeling better myself so that I can look after them too. Your list of things you've learned are all things I am looking forward to!!!

Thanks for posting, and my best to your mom!!!

I think those lessons apply to us all!!! It is nice that you are able to take care of your mom. It is so hard to see our parents aging. I'm fresh out of parents after this year, but we still have Jane's. It is hard to see her dad becoming unable to care for himself...unsteady... afraid to fall in the shower, etc.
It is great that you were able to move her closer to the kids.

Also... It's nice to see you back!

I'm sure your Mom will probably be happier with you all around her more often..I'm sorry she is going through all these health issues.

Glad you're back and learning so much about yourself.
