Back to work
Today I am back to work after 6 weeks, 30 lbs down, and feeling like a new person (some-what). I definately do not feel like the person that left 6 weeks ago. I work in a call center with over 60 persons, so wish me luck with the comments and weird looks
Thanks everyone for getting me through my 6 weeks and beyond, especially when I REALLY needed it.
By the way, a good friend of mine (DREAMER>>>) on this web site who works with me had WLS with Dr. C yesterday and is doing very well (as of late yesterday).

Kelly,
Take it easy girl. Don't try to do too much too soon.
You'll need to learn our mantra. "Thank you".

Yeah, back to work, and what an amazing journey you have ahead of you. Getting back to work helps with the loss and helps with the mind too.
At least for me it did.
Hugs,

Kelly
Welcome back to work!! I am so jealous you got 6 weeks off. I got a week and a half. I remember when I came back I realized that my boss had told EVERYONE at work that I had this surgery. I told him in confidence not expecting him to spread the word.. but anyway people who knew I had it came up and said "hey I thought you were coming back skinny?" Isn't that a hoot?? They thought by some miracle I would be at goal in a week and a half.. lol
They have had fun watching me shrink and even got a comment the other night at a safety meeting I went to .. One of the guys said "You're getting too skinny you look like a tweaker." Someone else said "you can see right through her" .. well, I didn't expect those comments.. lol
You'll do great though, keep your chin up.. love ya..

Like Christina, I was back at work after only 9 work days off (just shy of 2 weeks). I work at a machine shop with a LOT of men, and I have not been shy to tell them what I had done. They all treat me like they are my older brothers, telling me that I shouldn't eat different things, etc. The not eating happens if they catch me at the vending machine that is full of candy, chips, cookies, and peanut butter crackers/cheese crackers/and some low-carb snacks now cause I requested they add them. Nah, I don't buy stuff out of it often, but there are others here on low-carb diets and they DO buy out of it and so that stuff sells fast. I get tickled at their comments and "helpful" suggestions though, they mean well.

So far so good...nothing but positive feedback. But hey, I am having an uncomfortable feeling on the right side of the middle of my incision that is very localized. Has been going on for about 1 week now and forgot to mention it at 6 week post-op because I was not feeling it right then; but today, it has been very uncomfortable. If I were to have a hernia it would be protruding, right?
Thanks for the feedback!

Hernia Check
Kelly:
At my nine-month checkup, I asked Kelly about a weird pain that I occasionally have in the right midsection of my abdomen. She checked me for a hernia. I laid flat on my back with my ankles and knees together. Then she had me lift my legs up with my knees toward my belly button, and checked my abdomen for a protrusion. No protrusion = no hernia. You could try it yourself.
I can't remember...did you have your gallbladder removed during surgery? If so, you could also be feeling discomfort at your gallbladder removal site.
Of course, if the pain continues, you should definitely check with Kelly or the doctor.
Congratulations on your weight loss. It gets better, honest!
