Jeri - I applaude you for taking the intitial stps to your healing - many times peeps in your situation follow in the footsteps of theor parents (**shudder**). It does not surprise me either that your mom had no clue - many times our perceptions are vastly different from our parents - sometimes this is due to the adult vs. child percpton, and sometimes it is from the abuser/abusee perception like yours where the reality of the situation is true from the side of the abusee as the abuser, in theor blind rage has no clue.

I am sorry you (and others on this thread) have had to endure this abuse and neglect - it just makes me so sad that you need to deal with this along with all of lifes other complications. You have taken a very important step in your healing...which is most important, love. i am proud of you.

And hey...we are all here for you to be a "mom" if you need one

Thank you so much. This is soo sweet and accurate. I shouldn't be surprised that she doesn't have a clue. It's always been that way. I don't know why I keep expecting different behavior from her.

I appreciate what you said here more than you know. I have so much love support here. It helps me more than you know.

(((((JERI)))))

Good for you for getting some kind of catharsis. Tomorrow (and the next several weeks at least, not to mention the rest of your life) is HUGELY important. You do not need any extra bile or bottled up emotion to take with you into the OR. You are so giving and lovely and are already so loved here. You are a GOOD person. People who would cause you such pain are probably very sad and lost and lonely. That is too bad...but not your problem. You seem to be having an increasingly good attitude about what is within your power in this situation and what is not. Good for you. Best of luck with you for your preparations today and BIG DAY tomorrow.

Thanks so much. I appreciate what you've said. I want to go into surgery feeling as if this ugliness is behind me. Tomorrow I am starting my new life and I want to stay positive and calm.

Jeri - You go in today...and I didn't see that until I re-read this post. You will do fine, sweetie. Please don't keep this on your plate as a stressor - you do not need that in your healing. You have put your feelings out there (a VERY hard and vulnerable thing to do), and it is time to let it go and concentrate on Jeri and this incredibly loving and courageous thing you are doing for your health and yourself.

Know that we love you, and are here to care for you during all of this. Post from the other side, and I will save a warm spot on the losers bench for you

Yeah, today is my day. I just woke up and am thankful I could sleep. I've already put this aside. I don't have time to deal with this before major surgery.

It's about me right now...for a change.
