Default Endoscopy Done

Well...I went in early this monring and at 8am I had an Upper Gi Endoscopy. By 9:30am I was headed home. They stretched my stoma from 7mm to 10mm...I guess it will probably shrink back a bit...and possibly need to be done again in the future. They told me they would rather do it in more than one step, that try to stretch it too much and rupture the connection between the stomach and intestine. I was also on an anti-nausea IV while there.

Although I am still weak from weeks of not eating...I managed to eat more today than the last 5 days combined without a lot of discomfort...and no vomitting yet. So now I am hopeful I will recover...but still cautious. I want to be excited about the prospect of a full recovery...but am afraid to get too excited.

This has been one of the worst experiences in my life...the nausea has been unbearable...I have a new found sympathy and respect for Janie, Paige, Trina..any others who have had to live through this. It was horrendous. The Upper GI I had 2 weeks ago (not an endoscope...just an xray), showed things to be "normal"...If I didn't badger them, nothing would have happened....why???? Oh well....I am grateful I am on the otherside of the scope...and hope now to be able to eat enough to get my strength back. Seriously...I was shakey just driving my son to pre-school yesterday..2 miles away and back.

All I want is to be able to eat again...and feel good. Frankly the weight loss is so secondary to me right now.

Thank you to anyone who was supportive and concerned. I will keep you aprised of my progress. Cross your fingers.

So glad to hear they found a reason for your problem. And glad the solution wasn't too too awful. Here's to hoping that things will get easier for you from here on out. (((Hugs)))

Simone... I am so sorry you've had such a tough time. I hope and pray that today's procedure will do the trick for you... Eat what you can, build your strength back up and take things easy... Bounce back like your inner "tigger!"

Oh my...7mm to 10mm...I was 12mm at the time of surgery, then went down to 10mm and they dialated me to 15mm expecting me to shrink down to about 12mm. What I did learn was eat, eat, eat right out of the scope and not soft things. They told me to go and get food down to keep the opening open. I had shrimp, rice and veggies. Seemed crazy to go without food for 9 days and then to eat that of all things! But it worked.

Here's wishing you better food success and no pain.

Default ok...getting ahead of myself....

ok...so I ate a good amount today...but now I am nauseated as hell...feel like I am just gonna lose it!!!! If its not one thing its another.

They have me on an anti nausea med...and took it three times today...but what I think happened is during the procedure they have me an anti nausea med in the IV...it must have worn off...cause I really feel like I'm gonna hurl.

Going to call and see if they could possibly prescribe what was in that IV instead of what I'm getting now...this is for the birds.
