Question worried about recovering alone,,,,,,,,

hi everyone,,,,
kinda getting more worried about the recovery process,,,,as i will be mostly by myself during that time, my husband just got back to work after a long layoff so there is no way for him to stay home with me but for more than 2 days during my recovery,,,and then i will be alone for about 10 hrs a day,,,and with a 7 yr old at home (mostly in school) but having to pick her up from school during the week,,,,,,
i worry about being left alone for 10 hrs a day for 5 out of 7 days,,,,i haven't lived here long enough to really make friends, and our older kids are gone on their own way,,, and i have no family here,,,,,soooooo i am wondering how others did it?,,is is really crucial to have someone around just in case or to help out,,
did anyone else out there recover on their own ,,,,,well sort of?? if that makes sense....I figure i will keep the phone close and have liquids nearby, and all the important things of course.. and i set up for me to be able to text my hubby on our cell phones in case of an emergency,, I am thinking of calling my best friend in san diego to come stay for at least a week,,,but wanted to know if i really need her to....?? she is a doll and know she would if i ask, but i hate to impose.......if that makes sense....
I am getting more nervous and worried about making sure all gets done prior to surgery and wanting to be sure things will be okay afterwards.....my husband is wonderful and sooo supportive bless his heart,,,but as i said with starting a new job its not like he can just take a week off sooooo soon...and i know he wants to...
any personal experiences and advise would be welcomed

Of course everyone is different but I was wanting to go back to work after one week at home.My husband was at work all day and I drove to the stores and walked and walked. It really depends on how you recover.Hope everything works out well for you. Barb

It's funny how different we all are. I will be alone except for my dogs. I can't wait. I even want the dr to approve more time off for me so I can be at home. I need a good extended vacation.

I recovered alone, mostly. I stayed at my dad's in law apartment and the only things I asked my brother and sis in law for (the rest of the house) was milk! I did everything else myself. You can do this. Just call your hubby before he leaves work and let him know what you need. You should be fine hon.

Now me on the other hand had to have help just about 24/7 for 5 weeks. But mind you I also had OPEN RnY makes a BIG difference. I could barely push myself up outta bed, reach around to wipe , and I couldnt bend down to put on my pants or sock and shoes. So my husband took the 5 weeks off from the MArines to take care of me. I think I really wore him out cause after about 2 weeks, he went to my work and traded with my mom, did her job so she could come and be with me. Didnt mater to me I got my mom all to myself when she was here. But like other people said you will be fine I had the worst case possible,so you will be fine. dont stress about it,just take it day by day.-

Glad to say that I was one of the ones able to do everything for myself after coming home from the hospital. My husband helped me out of the recliner and the bed for the first day or so, but after that I was ok on my own.

Just remember to listen to your body and rest when it tells you to. Really listen and "eat" when it tells you to also.

Good luck on your journey!

Yep, I needed help getting home from the hospital--couldn't have driven myself, and for maybe 24 hours after I got home. The rest of it was just dealing with the pain meds, which make me psychotic...

I was pretty much okay on my own as well, hubby was around before and after work, but took no days off after I got home from the hospital. You should be okay to drive as long as you're off the pain meds...or maybe you can have her get a ride home with neighbors or friends for a day or 2.
