Looking for prayers and the end of a nightmare
I posted this under my story but I thought I would share it here too. I'm asking for prayers and peace of mind for all of those involved and a resolution to this terrible crime.
Last Monday night brought with it the reality of the fragility of life and how much certain aspects of our lives are out of our control. Last Monday my daughter's closest friend, who has also been our next door neighbor for 20 years, was at a self car wash. It was about 9 pm and she was alone. While she was getting money out for the machine a man walked up to her and asked if he could use her tire iron. She went and opened her trunk. At that moment the guy pulled out a knife, threw her to the ground and stabbed her in the leg. As she screamed and kicked he fought with her and started choking her until she passed out. He then picked her up and threw her into the trunk and closed it. She came to right away and started grabbing everything she could until she found an emergency release. She actually didn't even know their was an emergency trunk release in her car. As soon as she heard him start the engine she was able to jump out of the trunk and run to a Wendy's next door to get help as the man took off in her car.
This whole situation has been very frightening to all of us. I've known this girl for the last 20 years and she honestly is like another daughter to us. We have a really good relationship with her parents and this has left all of us feeling numb, violated and angry. I am so thankful she is ok but this really brings to home the unknowns of life and the need to be careful. This could have been my daughter. Her friend had actually asked her if she wanted to go with her. Sarah said she didn't. My daughter Sarah is having a hard time with the "what if's"....wondering if she had gone with her if this ever would have happened. All I can say to her is you never know but you can't live in the "what if's" world. All you can really do is learn from it.
All I can do is pray they find this guy before he does successfully abduct someone else's daughter.
Her friend is having a terrible time. She comes across strong but she is obviously very frightened. She went public today with the entire story which has increased her fears. Poor thing is so scared to be alone right now. She knows she can come over to our house whenever her parents are gone. I'm so glad she feels comfortable doing that. Last night she was so scared she ended up in my daughter's bed because she didn't want to be sleeping alone.

WOW that's horrible. I'm so sorry that she had to go thru all of that. I hope that she gets the help she needs to help her get over this. I also hope that they are able to find the jerk that did this to here.

All I can say is Thank G-d she is ok...for heavens sake...she was so strong...and so quick...what a stroke of luck...someone up there was looking out for her!!
If the man got her car...maybe they'll have a lead on this man...
You're right...life is so fragile...and so short...we need to treasure every moment we have with our family and friends...
I hope she will recover emotionally from this...

Wow. Poor thing. I'm glad she she kept her wits about her and was able to get out of that car. I pray that she is able to recover emotionally very quickly because she is a tough cookie.

Sending all my love to the girls and their families!!!!
Hi Beth,
Please tell the young ladies they are in my thoughs, today and I wish them peace in this time of need. I hope the girls find peace. My best friend, Terri and I grow up togethers. Are parents still live in their house, next to one another. We are closer than sisters, it is a bond that will last our live time. Even though we life in diffenent states, Minnesota and Michigan, we still stay in touch. I also think of Terri's mom as my second mom. Together the girls will find peace. I am sure their bond is strong and true.
With all my love,
Mary
