Default I'm heartsick...

I know this is off topic, but it is one of those crises where I would, in my pre-op days, turn to food.

I have three dogs. Missy, 10 years old, is a golden Lhasa Apso. Benji, 6 years old, is a white Lhasa Apso. And Wesley, 4, is a shih tzu/pomeranian mix, tricolor. When you see the three together, they look alike because of the body build, fur, tail, and personalities. We raised Missy from 8 weeks, but the other two are rescues that we adopted years ago.

Wesley went to the vet today - he just has not been himself the last few days and I became alarmed.

Wesley has been diagnosed with kidney disease, and his body is being flushed of the toxins as we speak. I will know more tomorrow about what his future holds, and....

I am just heartsick.

We are an older couple, and our dogs bring us such joy.

Please send positive thoughts, vibes, and all good things to Wesley in his hour of need.

Many thanks from your tearful friend,

Default my dog

I have two shih tzu's who are currently in Utah with my family until I'm well enough.. but the older of the two has got kidney disease.. and she is on special food. I had another little doggie who passed from kidney disease .. but with my dog now I found that if you catch it quick enough they can live for a few years with it. My little girl that didn't .. she was too ill when we found it. Your little guy is in my prayers. Janie

So sorry to hear about this happening to your baby! I know you posted about Wesley not feeling well in your wow moment thread and he's been in my thoughts since I read that! I sure hope you caught it in time.

My heart goes out to you Claire.

My DH and I have 3 fur babies - the oldest (a rescue) was recently diagnosed with Cushings disease and the meds seem to be causing more problems than they should.

Big hug coming your way and sending good vibes to Wesley.

Corrine, thank you for your hug and good vibes. They seem to be working. I now understand more about kidney disease in dogs and know that it is a management issue. For the most part.

Interesting about Cushing's Disease in dogs. Actually, I was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease in 1994 after 9 years of being very sick. At the point at which I was diagnosed, my pathology indicated I was in a terminal state. However, obviously, I am still here. (I had an adrenalectomy - left side). I wish your pup well - I feel a kinship with the Cushing's patient!
