RAWR!
That's a good word to start out with. Just ranting really.
I just spent the last week in Austin, TX training for a new advocacy software program we'll be using at work soon. Several things happened on this trip that I am rather unsatisfied with.
1. You can't walk ANYWHERE in Austin. At least not from where we were. There's hardly any sidewalks! I was shocked.
2. We didn't have a rental car, so our choices of entertainment were pretty slim. Which REALLY sucks, because I wanted to go see the South Capital bats!!!
3. I couldn't eat ANYTHING!!! I'm still on my liver shrinking diet for post-op (I'm a MONTH AWAY FROM SURGERY! WOOT!) and EVERYTHING that the training provided for lunch was LOADED with carbohydrates (brownies, sandwiches, potato chips, baked potatoes, etc). People thought I was weird eating only the meat off the sandwiches, or eating various nuts and drinking water like crazy.
4. Getting home was HELL. Apparently there was some ridiculous weather going on around Dallas last night, and that's where my connection flight to DC was (it's a 30 minute flight from Austin to Dallas... a complete waste of time, but blah whatever). I showed up for my flight FIVE HOURS EARLY (because my boss and coworker were leaving 3 hours before me) and my flight was cancelled an hour before it should've left.
5. I ended up on a bus, with 60 other people trying to get to Dallas from the cancelled flight, for FOUR HOURS, and made my flight to DC with less than 5 minutes to spare. I was SO grateful for that.
6. RAWR!!! I HATE cancelled flights and no rental cars. It completely ruined what could've been a really cool sight seeing trip. Plus I hear Austin is awesome, and I feel like I TOTALLY missed it. Ugh. */endrant*
