Anxious
Well I will be admitted in about 16 hours! I am so excited, yet a little nervous now! Can anyone walk me through what to expect once admitted. I have the sheet they gave me at the office....just looking for a more personal version.
Anyone going to visit post ops on Thursday? I do not mind company!

The steps
First you will be admitted throught the E.R. and fill out some very minor paperwork. Then you will be taken to the room that you will be in for 2 days, so dont unload everything. Then you will go to sleep, they offer a sedative if you need it. Then before you know it, they will wake you up approximately 3 hours prior to surgery time and you will get a bedadine shower, new gown and other preps. You will also start getting anticoagulant injections... they dont hurt. Then you will be wheeled by bed down the hall to surgery prep room, meet the OR staff, your anthesiologist will come in and talk to you and get you going on IV and sedatives, then you will be wheeled into OR where your eyes may be open for 5 minutes and your out. Then you will wake back up in that OR area where you were prepped initally. You stay there for awhile... if you think it's cold in there ask for blankets, they have heated blankets and they feel so good!!! Then you will be back to your room, where the nurses will help you to walk, push morphine, etc., oh yeah when you wake up, you will find that you have a catheter, that must do that in OR.
Dont forgot chapstick! It is so dry in there, and from all the dope and anthesia you will find your mouth will be dry. Late on the second day you will be moved to a room that doesnt require as much monitoring... alot of people complained that after being moved they feel like they've been ignored and had poor care, this wasnt the case for me. I didnt have any complications, nr did i need to go the ICU after surgery, so with that in mind I hope this inforramtion helps you. Best of luck! I look forward to meeting you in the near future.

I just wanted to say best of luck to both of you Marisa and Brenda. I will be praying for you both, you'll do just fine. I am just starting the process, had my consult last Friday. They are really great at Dr. Callery's office. I am impressed. I can't wait to see your post-op posts!

Bridget,
Thank you so much for the detailed account of what will happen for us pre-ops. It was very informative and eliminated the "unknown" that has been bothering me. The closer it gets the more freaked I am getting. This is the first time I have had second thoughts or doubts about what I am doing. Is this normal?? HELP!

I Am Here!!
WOW!! You all make me feel real special! I have missed you all too! I am doing great for the most part. I have lost 39 pounds in 4 weeks...today exactly!
I am still having problems eating. My pouch does not like food. Everytime I eat I feel yucky! I have really low energy! I am hoping that gets better soon! I am trying to drink a protein shake with 50 gm of protein in it, but I forget sometimes.
I think I am secretly mourning food a little. How long until you can eat a decent sized meal??
ANY good food advice??
