Lessa sometimes that is the name of the game. Roadblocks and Stop signs. Don't let it get you down. At least you have been approved. Your in the race you just have to jump a couple of hurdles until you make it to the finish line. You can do it. You will be on the losing side soon.

The stress test is not hard. My doctor stayed with me during the test. You get on a treadmill that goes slowly, and inclines gradually more and more. You need to tell them about a minute before you think you can't go anymore - they have to inject you with something. Then, If I remember correctly, they have you lay down and take a MRI (or one of those other xray type thingies). You will then have to wait a couple of hours and have the MRI done again. Like I said, it's not hard - just time consuming. Takes up half a day, anyway. The hardest is the treadmill - and it's not fast, just inclines more & more - That part last only 2-3-4 minutes.

Anyway, I would think that it would be important to have it done prior to surgery. There may be more tests that they have you do, in order to be sure that you do well through and after.

I was approved in Jan - had to get a couple of more tests done, too - one was a Pulmonary Function test and then they had me see a pulomonologist (sp). Everything turned out ok, so now I'm just waiting on a date (at least I hope that's all that I have to do!)

Good Luck

Leesa!

It's not that bad! (Believe me, I know how you feel!)

You've gone through the most difficult part - approval from the insurance company. Just don't let the cardio doc drag his feet. Get him to bring you in ASAP and "GET - R - DONE"

I'm sure everything will be fine. That happened to me. There was a "hiccup" on my EKG and the cardio doc decided to do a stress test and echocardiogram. I passed with flying colors. My back hurt like hell the next few days (ostioarthritis), but heck, a small price to pay to know I'm a healthy dog for the surgery!

Hang in there, it's coming!

It's funny, I still have the note from my cardio doc clearing me for surgery - dated 10/18/06. I have it taped to my monitor at work.

Leesa -

If you don't think this cardio doc will release you for surgery, you have every right to go to someone else! Get that second opinion! Most important of all -

Don't Give Up!
