Being sick and single after WLS sucks!
I came down with my first case of viral gastroenteritis, otherwise known as "the stomach flu"...it's nasty to have after WLS. IF any of you pre-op wnat to know what dumping is like...recall the last time you had the tummy bug. I feel like I'm early post op again.....can't keep anything in....it's out within minutes. Yes, I have lost 6 pounds from the fever, sweating, and diarrhea every hour. I thought I was doing better last night at Rain's par-tay...went 4 hours withou feeling ill...but then I was up all night. At least the fever was over after only 14 hours of 102 temp, using tylenol. My MD said just stay hydrated and that the GI stuff will take a few days to resolve...stick to a BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast) of course, most of which makes us post-ops dump to begin with! I told my MD this...she chuckled (we know each othe well) and said to do th best I can and let her know what works (I"m also her first WLS pt to compare with). ON top of it all, AUnt FLo is here for her monthly visit, I start the intense part of my new job, I don't have any sick days to use yet, I just got my 4th hospital bill to pay, I have a research paper due in a week, Christmas is only 22 days away, and I don't have anyone to come and make me chicken soup.....wahhhhhhhh
Ask if I would have had the surgery had I known I would go through all of this....hell yeah! As a fiend of mine says, "It's a good problem to have."

Oh dear, you have so much going on and so sick on top of everything. How awful. I'm so sorry you are going through this alone. You have every reason to feel the way you do. If I wasn't so far away, I'd rush over and give you some much needed TLC. I hope you get some comfort from all the well wishes I am sending your way!
Take care and get well!

Whoo hoo...formed stool!!!!! I was able to sleep through the night wihtout havin to go to the bathroom. Still a bit rumbly in the gut, but getting back on the horse!
God knows what I needed, some good rest before a very busy month coming up. If I didn't catch a quick bug, then I would have missed the party too! It takes an act of God to get time off when you dont' have any PTO in the first few months of a new job. I even have a doctor's note to cover me.

I knew I shouldn't have read this thread while eating breakfast :P
But seriously, sorry you had to go through that. I know it's never fun being sick. I've been blessed with a good immune system, but when I get sick like that the world just seems to suck.

You poor thing! It's rough to be sick....but I can't imagine doing it all alone. I know from my recent surgery/blockage/2nd surgery/pneumonia....if I didn't have my husband, I can't imagine how I would have coped. I guess we do what we have to...but it sure wouldn't be easy. You are so cute....I can't imagine you'll be single for long.
