The lessons are $25 for a one time group thing, which lasted 1.75 hours. The rentals run another $25. I forget what the lift tickets run.
There was 5 others in our group. We lerned how to go uphill, slow down, stop, ride the ski lift, turn, and get the skis on and off. The most important is learning how to slow down and stop. Not stop by running into a tree or falling down! We started at a little, tiny slope and moved up to a 1/4 mile, steeper run.
The costly part is clothing. We went to Burlington coat factory for the gear, which saved us several hundred dollars. I got a nice down ski jacket for $60. At the sports store, we saw jackets for $400! Also needed long johns, gloves, hats, goggles, ski pants, scarves, and socks. You can probably get by with less, but I'm glad we got many layers of clothing as it was cold if you weren't moving around.
We ended up buying our own boots, as I'm very picky when it comes to my feet. Figured it's worth the investment since we're going to WY for a big ski trip. Also, since Mtn High is only a day trip away, we'll go more often. Maybe Big Bear for a weekend trip.
The roads were clear, saw even the tiniest little cars there. We went all prepared with snow chains just in case. All along the side of the road were families sledding and just rolling in the snow.
