We're spoiled out here...all them laws to protect people from themselves. We get a snow flurry and all heck breaks loose. I know in the areas where is snows often, you see the oldest clunker careening around without chains.

Californians are the biggest retards on the road... and with the snow well enough said. I grew up in Utah and would drive my rear wheel volkswagen up the canyon to ski without snow chains. Never had a problem, and VW's are rear wheel. So I can't say I've ever used chains in my life. LOL

I guess I have never heard someone say...Go to the snow.

I have heard..I'm going sking(water) Not Let's go to the water...

What are you California people smok'in.

I'm sure it's just me or maybe a West /East thing.

We have to drive 1-2 hours to get to the snow....just like getting to the beach.

It doesn't take me 1-2 hours to get to the beach...but to snow...it is a trip. The hail here in Escondido covered the streets and cars today and it looked like snow. Too bad my little one is sick with the stomach flu. She can't even go outside to throw around the ice.

Here in San Diego we ae about 2 hours from the mountains. In winter, when it rains here, it snows in the mountains and we all get excited to take a trip to the snow. We rent cabins, go skiing, take walks, take the kids and dogs...etc....It is a fun day trip. Would you believe Van, people even fill the bed of their pick up trucks with snow and bring it down the mountain for the kids to play with once they return! It is a great perk of living here.....go to the mountains, the beach, the desert....what ever floats our boat for the day! LOL

Jen, you can drive out the 8E till Pine Valley ....Just past alpine....I bet there is snow there....stop before you need to wear tire chains and get out and play in the snow! Who knows, maybe Alpine has snow!
