Thumbs up Looking for Male Chihuahua mate

We have a tan Chihuahua female who is over a year old and is totally waiting for a boy toy. Does anyone have a male that would like to mate with our female? We are looking for a purebred. Our girl is a purebred apple head. No AKC papers on her though.

I am in Escondido. If interested, please PM me. We can make out some sort of deal. All we would like is a baby girl puppy.

You should not mate your bitch till she has had 3 seasons or is over 18months old. Being a smaller breed she may have trouble delivering naturally and need an emergency C section. If you breed her too young she may have all sorts of problems. Good luck finding a boy.

There is going to be a GLUT of Chihuahuas in North America this year by Xmas as a result of the October release of the movie of the same name ("Chihuahua")... Everyone is going to want one... and a few months later there will be a slew of them in rescue.

I always feel bad for the breed that "wins" Best of Breed, or appears in a movie, or gets too much press... (dalmations, in 101 Dals, for example)...

ok... none of this is "help" for you, probably.

But, in essence, please only breed if you are qualified, your stud is, and you are BETTERING the breed (i.e. not to make money)... and even then, with the predictable future of this breed in the short run, we really are NOT going to need any more of them for a while.

(ok.. off my soap box.)

Our little boy is like our baby. He is the sweetest dog I have ever owned. I am still having a problem with house breaking him. Does anyone have any suggestion? I have owned other dogs and never in my life have had such a hard time as with this one.

Blueyz~ I thought this was some sick singles site for a minute there! Just kidding!!! Hope you find a male to go along with you baby. I have to agree somewhat with Blisandt in that you need to be prepared for a possible c-section with the smaller breeds. True...most have them naturally with no issues, but you should take into account that there is a POSSIBILITY that she's need "help delivering" and take into account that extra expense. Just something to keep in the back of your mind. Good luck!

Kim~ Good luck on the potty training! I had a little chihuahua mix (was suppose to be a rat terrier...right?!) and that dog would poop in the house...took me FOREVER to get her to go outside!! Little dogs can be so hard-headed (and smart!)! I used to think she was "stupid" but found out she was too smart for her own good!

All~
First of all, thank you for all of the advice and responses. I wanted to make clear that I am not out to breed for money as some breeders do. I appreciated the advice of waiting until she is 18 months, after 3 heats. She is 15 months. She started her heat when she was 10 months. I will definately take the advice to wait. I was also educated about possible C-Section by the breeder that we got our dog from. Her Mom was lucky and didn't have any problems. She had 2 litters.

Thanks for all of your help. I have a family member / friend who has a Chihuahua / Min Pin mix who is interested in the future.

If you are not an experienced breeder, I would not recommend breeding at all. Reputable breeders breed to better the breed, not just have babies b/c their male is ready for some action. That's why we have so many "purebreds" that look nothing like what they are supposed to. Just b/c a dog has papers, doesn't mean he looks like the breed. When breeding you have to think about the genetics behind the breed, dna testing, liver shunt testing, STDs, etc. Breeding isn't about putting two dogs together. You need a mentor to help you with delivery and such. Mommas and babies can die from unexperienced breeders.

And the least of the problems, once a male mates, he will be marking all over the house.

Please, no offense, leave the breeding to the professionals.
