I don't know if any of you have any experience with the Yahoo group FREECYCLE, but that's how I find/get rid of clothes. It's a free service, it's local to most areas, and you can find just about anything. Everything my wife and I have listed, including old storm doors, packing boxes, clothes, even unopened baby food has been taken, usually within hours of posting it! Additionally, we've been able to get things like more clothes, car seats, strollers, and books for nothing except the gas to go and pick it up! When you post something, people respond if they are interested, and you email someone back with your address or a mutual meeting place for pick up.

I know this kind of takes things away from just a "forum" opportunity, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Also, the last 3 or 4 giant garbage bags of clothes I "freecycled" went to a kid with a hormonal imbalance that resulted from major brain surgery. So not only was I able to get rid of the clothes, they went to a worthy cause.

Just Google "Freecyle" with your city's name, or the name of the closest big city and you should be able to jump right into their group. (You'll need a Yahoo account though...)

Smile Uk freecycle

we have that in the Uk as well.

I think it would be nice if we can help each other out here when we are shrinking etc.

I have had dealers turn up for things then sell them on that makes me mad.

I have a huge box of clothes here anyone is welcome to them in the Uk

take care Dianne

I still think it's a good idea too but I just really don't know how to approach it.

The more I thought about it the more I realized that I really can't accomodate even a medium amount of clothes... probably not enough to make the idea of me storing all of it worthwhile or possible.

As for me tracking who sent what to who on a spreadsheet or something I can totally do that. I can also put the spreadsheet somewhere online where everyone can access it, but past that I'm just not sure what I can do.

Mike's information about the Freecycle thing sounds promising too.

So, unless anyone has some input that will give me a logical way to start I'll probably just let my idea die for the moment and maybe try to bring it back to life down the road.
