Claire explains its usage
I know what its used for but i see so many of ya'll taking it and i was wondering why? My doc says usually you dont need it so i was thinking i may be missing something good (like extra energy!)

Claire, thanks for letting me know you have an RX for it, guess i'll just pretend like i got energy. hahaa

Deborah, the patch is NOT a prescription, it is available without a prescription. However, it was my blood work that showed I needed it, and I did get a prescription for the shots. But much prefer the patch, which is actually more effective in my opinion, and not a prescription.

I would NOT reccommend a B-12 patch after WLS unless your surgeon says you need B-12. That's when it comes into play.

Best regards,
Claire

Default A B12 question

Claire - did you take any B-12 before surgery? I am not sure about it because the nutritionist says that I may want to take some as I prepare for surgery. I know there are doctors who give the shot for weight loss, and really need help to lose a few pounds before my pre-op doctor's visit I just don't want to take anything that may affect the surgery!

No, I didn't take B-12 before surgery, and I took it only after my surgeon instructed me to, based upon my 6 months blood work. I did the shots for a while and couldn't stand them, and I feel much more energetic with the patch anyway. My one year post op appointment will be next month and I will determine then whether I will continue taking it.

I don't think it's something you should do on your own - I was shown to be low in it, and that's why I am taking it. I don't know if it's a forever thing - will find that out.

Well, I can't tell if I'm supposed to or not. My doctor's office gave me a pamplet a year ago of "standard" information that just says "multi-vit and supplements". Although I've seen my other doctors (for the numerous tests), I have not seen my surgeon since then. I have no idea what "supplements" are. At least I'll see him the week before surgery, so I guess he'll say something then.

Will do! You know I couldn't think of any questions I wanted to ask him, but I think I'll compile a list after reading the posts on here! By the way, Duckie I just saw your befoe/after pics and must say you look awesome!
