Unhappy Friends and Family issues

So many people have told me that I will run into people in my life that are not supportive of the surgery and I haven't listened. Also saying I will lose some friends and make new ones.
Well recently I've had some people have issues with it. How do you deal with these people??

Anyone have friends come and go due to having the surgery???

I haven't had the surgery and not yet sure if I will, but based upon some things that I have read on this board, I'm not sure that I will tell anyone (if I have the surgery) including my mother (and that would be due to her own medical problems).

Has anyone kept this a complete secret from friends and family?

Those that mind don't matter.
And those that matter don't mind.

It's all relative. You'll come to understand that when someone has an issue with the surgery, it's usually THEIR issue, not yours. You have to choose not to feed into it, because, generally speaking, those that have not gone through the process have a very difficult time understanding why we've made the decisions we've made. What matters is that you are taking control of your life, you are a champion, and other's opinions are just that--opinions, which I'm sure you know from experience are like assholes--everybody's got one.

You do what you have to do, and the people that matter will fall right into their supportive positions. Anyone who thinks differently...well, sometimes unwanted pounds are shed in multiple ways. Find the sunny side and move towards it, and enjoy the people that choose to move with you. Leave everyone else in your skinny ass dust.

Default Amen to that Mike!

It's been said many times before. This is our journey and only we can judge if it's right or wrong.
There are many people who jump to conclusions when they had have a clue what their are jumping about!

If this is the path you want DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO DISCOURAGE YOU.
