I went to see the doctor and he approved me for the gastric bypass. I am so happy. I prayed and prayed.

I was wondering how long did it take to schedule your surgery after you had your consult with the doctor.

Has your insurance approved it too? A lot depends on your doctor's schedule. When mine was approved by insurance, I could have had it 2 weeks later but due to scheduling conflcts at work, I had to wait a month.

The nurse, who is my advocate, got all the info she needs from the insurance. Now we just have to turn in all the stuff they were asking for like history of diet in the last year. I also have to see a dietician, on Thursday, and Psychologist on Monday before we can turn in the paper work. I am so nervous something is going to go wrong.

I'd say it mostly depends on your doctor, his schedule, and your insurance company. Did you ask your dr's office? They're probably familiar with working with your insurance, and could give you the best answer.

Five months from initial consultation to day of surgery for me. That included all my tests, my 1 1/2 month liquid diet, insurance approval....
