Question on gastric bypass and epilepsy
Hi all
Im writing this in for my partner that is starting her journey of gastric bypass. She filled out her paperwork, and of course those lingering questions of health come up and makes great concern if one would be eliminated if they had this or that. Michelle has had epilepsy since she was 12, and she is concerned that she will not be accepted for surgery. Is this a concern?

If her epilepsy is under control and she doesn't have to stop her meds for surgery, I would think it would be fine. I think it would be dependent on the number of seizures she is actively having, and whether those seizures are running through a continuum of severity. If they are infrequent and not severe, I would think her chances would be better. I'm sure her doctor will have more information and the best thing to do would be to ask them. I'm sure it's frustrating, but it's better to be safe than sorry. How nice of you to post on her behalf--but tell her to join up too! We have a nice community of helpful people here that would welcome her with open arms!
Take care, and keep us updated. I'm sure that she is not the only one that is dealing with this issue, and others could benefit from her experience!
-Mike

I'm not sure about the medical stuff....but I'm sure Duckie, Dyann, or one of the other many medical people will be along to help. I just wanted to say hi and let you know that I hope all goes well for your partner.

As long as the meds don't aggravate the pouch I don't see any reason she couldn't have it!

Hi all - again
Hey all!
For those of you that posted above, I am not a new member here - just too busy living my life finally. Love being skinny again.
And Whitney....you've known me in the past silly girl.
It is so good to be back though, love scrolling and strolling through the forum and seeing familiar faces pounds lighter. Have to say, we're all looking wonderful.... Isn't skinny great????
And yes, my partner will be posting here real soon so keep an outlook on her.

Pretty much OT, but want to say it anyway.....
I would just like to observe and comment that I love how okay it is to come here as a gay man or a lesbian and share our lives. It's not always so safe to be who we are, and to be accepted and cared about in spite of our orientation is a big thing. Thank you to you all who have wide enough vision to accommodate all sorts of people, warts, laugh lines, thin hair, and pannis included!
