Default thank you all

thanks for your feed-back (That's why I feel so good here)
I have spent the better part of my life (51 yrs) trying to be accepted by others in some way or another.
Not having to request to be accepted is a great feeling. Like when I first came here. Inclusion is good

That video really hit me hard today too, (coudn't even sit here after watching it) especially since I have an "adopted son" who is 18 and he is in boot camp now. (He is not legally adopted by me, but I gave him a place to live and took care of him for his senior year of high school.) He is my son's best friend. He calls me "Momma", even though his mom lived 15 minutes from us. She kicked him out with no place to go and wouldn't let him even see his little sisters and told him she would call the police if he showed up at their house. He is more mature, courtesy, and well-behaved than my real son! He struggled to graduate from high school and was so determined to be shipped out two weeks after graduation that he sat up all hours of the night doing term papers and studying so he would pass. His mom and her husband moved off to another state a few weeks before he left for boot camp and just left him here. He is going into the infantry and I am SO PROUD OF HIM! He writes home 3 or 4 times a week and I burn the pencils and paper up writing him too. He calls once every week for about 5 minutes and it's the best 5 minutes of my week I do believe just to hear his voice say "Momma" on the other end of the line. I DO tell him I am proud of him and I love him. I want him to know he is doing a wonderful thing for all of us AND his own future in securing a means to support himself and have something one day. I want him to know that even though he does not have his biological mom, THIS MOM is VERY PROUD! We get to see him in 2 1/2 weeks for family day. He gets to spend the night in the hotel with us in GA where he is at boot camp. I am so excited and can't wait to give him a big old hug! He asked me to put his cord on him at his "Turning Blue" ceremony. I cried when I received the letter asking me to do that. I feel so honored and lucky to have him in our lives.

As far as the color or race of the people in the video, what color or race were they? I am with Lisa......I don't see a color either.....only hearts that are affected. As far as this goes....my adopted son is Jewish, I'm Christian. It doesn't matter to me. What matters is how we treat each other.

I watched the whole thing... I didn't notice the profiling.. so I watched it again... It had to be intentional to do this. Makes me relook at my values... We are all not perfectly built, handsome and have adorable perfect looking children... Some of us have families with disabilities in addition to all the other imperfections. Is society, and I for that matter so blind to reality that we are more sympothetic to the white, thin, blond haired blue eyed, baby holding, soldiers who come from upper middle class families? Or maybe I didn't notice because I fealt it represented the typical family as I can relate to. Except for the thin part that is... I was moved by the video and wish all the soldiers well... and I thank them all for there support and work they are doing on a volonteer service. This is something that is to be remembered...

Very interesting - especially from a non-US perspective!
I hadn't noticed the "colour" inclusion/absence aspect. Being interested in genealogy, I did however feel strongly the weight of each word for each "relative" a soldier is (at the very beginning). I liked the simplicity, the impact of the relationships and was too choked half-way through. We don't have boys/girls off to war or training to the scale of the US. In the UK we lead a "sheltered" life if we do not actually know of anyone involved.
Indeed a little OT, very "American" but it certainly made me stop and feel and brought all sorts of emotions home! Thanks for sharing.

TRINA, so young, so attractive, so strong and above all so generous to take your "adoptive" son in. One life saved indeed into the warmth of your family! Very moving!

Cheers!
Vim
