Pants dummy and a bit of catch-up

OMG, you guys, I am so relieved. I just realized again for the millionth time what a complete dork I am. I had been so depressed all morning because when I got dressed this morning my pants were just a bit tight. I was like, See, my weight varies up and down, like most people, and this morning it was up. But I wasn't worried because it's that time in my cycle where I retain water and it wasn't any further up than it ever has been, so I just shrugged and packed cottage cheese and an apple for lunch...but then I went to get dressed and was so very sad when I put on a pair of pants that I pretty much never wear and they were slightly tight. I almost never wear slacks unless it's part of a suit for my occasional formal work events or meetings. On a day-to-day basis I wear cords, jeans, dresses and skirts. When I do wear slacks, I have two pair of black ones that I usually choose since they match whatever. Today was my six month job performance review, so I wanted to dress a little nicer than usual, so that's why I chose a pair of blue pinestriped slacks from the far left side of my closet.

So there I was, feeling fat all day at my desk in my slightly tight pants (since I was too stubborn to change my mind about wearing them), when I finally decided to go into the bathroom at lunchtime and check what the size of these pants are so I could really know if somehow I've outgrown size 10s and needed to only wear 12s until I've lost the few pounds up I am. Well, as you might've guessed, the pants are 8s, not 10s, LOL! I have pants in 8s, 10s, 12s, but since 10s fit best, that's what I usually choose to wear. For dresses, I'm definitely size 8, but with my wider hips I'm just that much bigger in pants. But occasionally I do find a pair of 8s that fit well enough, though I don't always choose those to wear when getting dressed, and that's why I haven't worn these blue pants in forever and that's why it had completely slipped my mind that they were 8s. Heavy sigh of relief!

I see that once again I haven't posted to this blog in a very long time, and once again my only excuse is that I've been out living life. I went on the TT Cruise in December (awesome! Go check out my photo albums if you haven't already), reached the end of a consulting contract in January, and switched from working way down in Sunnyvale every day to now working at my office in Oakland every day. My new work project is MUCH different than the one I recently completed. It is a great learning experience and I'm excited to see it through to the end. It should take until early 2010 to complete, but we'll see. I also can't help but use a bit of room at the back of my brain to worry about the economy and if this new client will suddenly decide that they can indeed after all live without the vital service my company provides and the amazing product that I am creating for them. My boss assures me that my position with the company is ok, though, for at least the foreseeable future...though we are not fortune tellers and who really knows? Fingers crossed!!!

And now, if you will excuse me, I will go eat my apple.
