Two WOW moments!

Posted 04-11-2008 at 10:04 PM by Nyn
Today I officially have lost 100 pounds since surgery -- 135 pounds total. That's...wow. I'm so, so happy 4 pounds to ONEderland!

My other wow moment: Well, for 10 years now I've owned two adorable summer dresses. When I bought them, I was only able to wear them a few times before I "grew" out of them, if you know what I mean One is size 13/14 and one is a size 12. The 13 is a purple/eggplant colored dress, crinkly fabric with some faded print flowers around the skirt. The 12 is a floaty fabric, double-lined, with slits up to the thigh, and the top layer is printed tan roses. Both are sleeveless with square-cut necklines.

Tomorrow night I have a "murder mystery" party with a Caribbean theme and the only thing I can think to wear are those two dresses. I have so few clothes in my closet anymore! I haven't tried on those dresses in almost 10 years, but I could not resist trying them on tonight, even though I'm still a size 16 pants. Well, the size 13 is my favorite, so I tried that one first. It went on just fine, easily fit around my butt (still my fattest part) but I guess I'm more muscular now since the back zipper wouldn't connect around my shoulder area. I was disappointed, but cheered that I could really foresee fitting into it again someday. For the heck of it, I got out the size 12, though I had no real hope since the "larger" size dress didn't fit. I slipped it over my head and it's...too big?! OMG, you guys! The only thing I can think is size 13/14 is more a "junior" size, right? Those clothes never fit around my shoulders and are always too short in the arms, from what I recall back when I could fit into them, long ago. The 12 must also be cut larger, or something. It's been too long since I wore it to recall anything other than the bitter disappointment when it wouldn't slide down past my hips anymore.

I still think I'm going to wear the size 12 tomorrow anyway. I got out a brown belt that doesn't look too dumb if I tighten it around my waist and it pulls the extra fabric tight to give me a shape around the waist. (A shape around the waist!!! I have a shape!! ) It still looks a little awkward since my breasts are too small to fill the extra fabric in that area, but oh well!

What an amazing feeling...Now, I just need to figure out my shoes. ::GLEE!::
