Setting goals and losing hair

Posted 01-23-2008 at 05:18 PM by Nyn
To help combat my hair loss annoyance, and just for a change, I got my hair chopped off this weekend. They took off probably 6-8 inches (not sure, but it used ot be well past my shoulders) and now it is a short A-line bob (shorter in the back, longer by the ears). I still lose lots of hair, but it seems like less of a problem now. Every few years I chop my hair off and start over, but it has never been this short. I am getting used to it still, but I think it is cute. I've always loved long hair, but honestly, with my long face and big head, I look better with short hair (not boy-short, more like below my ears but above the point of my chin).

I also bought a shampoo set called Nioxin to help prevent thinning hair. I don't believe it will really help much, but it was on sale and hey, it might help.

I had my "3 month" appointment last week, only it has actually been 4 months (had to cancel last month) and everything is going well, despite my nutritionist giving me a hard time. It is the last time I will meet with my surgeon, since he is passing my case on to the medical doctor in the Bariatric staff for the rest of my follow-ups. I will miss Dr. Hahn! The most adorable dork I may have ever met (yes, I liked him a lot).

So far, my weight loss has been nice, steady, and making me and my surgeon happy. I just got out of another mini-plateau having lost 9 pounds in 10 days to make century club at the New Year, and then only lost 2 pounds over the next 2 weeks. I'm now back to losing a few pounds in the space of a few days, so crossing my fingers that lasts for awhile.

I would really, really love to maintain a steady weight loss through my birthday. So far, I have lost an average of 4.625 pounds per week for the last 16 weeks. If I'd like to make it to a final goal weight of 150, I have another 80 pounds to lose. This means that if by some miracle I keep losing at a steady pace, I would reach goal in around 18 more weeks...which would be the week of May 26th...which is totally and completely a best case scenario. How many people keep losing at a steady pace all the way to goal? I'm guessing it's not the majority! Anyway, my birthday is June 21st, so that would give me a 3-4 week cushion of time. But, if I don't make it by my birthday, I can hope that I can make it by my 1 year surgiversary, which is September 24th. So that is my window to make goal -- May 26th-September 24th. Think I can do it? ::waves hands in excitement::

Where did you get Nioxin shampoo? I'm losing a lot of hair and would like to try it.
