On The Losers Bench......

Posted 08-09-2008 at 03:40 AM by Noonie
Well i've done it, its all over and im so glad to be on the other side. My surgery was one week ago on wednesday past and it was uneventful thank god. I met Kel and Hunnybunny from the site and also 2 others Jo & Ricky who also had surgery the same day as me. We developed a good friendship and will certaintly be staying intouch, which is so nice as we also plan to support each other along our way!
To be honest the pain has always been minimal and i have not taken pain medication from i left Brugge (Tuesday). My main problem post op was constipation but thankfully i got that sorted too the nurses were telling me that i could not take my laxatives but when Dr Dillemans came to see me the next day he told me to continue that it should not cause a problem, ah what a relief as i suffer so bad!!!
I was dreading the journey home but that also was pleasurable and did not have any pain i was so excited to see my 2 kiddies i could hardly wait. The look on my daughters (2yrs) face was priceless see kept running up to us and saying "miss you so much" wee pet, however my son (5mths) did not know what was going on even think he was confused to who we were!
Since coming home i have been doing good just struggling a little with the food cant seem to like this puree the food tastes so different pureed cant wait till next week when we can eat minced/soft diet i think this will fell more normal. Drinking 1.5lts is also a challenge its remembering to keep sipping, if i could drink it down i would not have a problem, but i guess this is my new way of life and it is going to take some getting used to.
I could'nt resist the scales when i got home i weighed on wednesday so exactly 1 week post op and waoh down 11.5lbs a total of 18lbs since i started the pre-op diet so im very happy.
The only problem that i encountered since i came home was last night i got some severe tummy pains and i really did not know what was causing them, the healing process? wind? bowel obstruction? i dont know! They got so bad they even woke me from my sleep and i had to go get analgesia 1st time since i got home, they really scared me i thought all sorts like was i going to have to get on a plane back to Belgium? I have to admit although i thought about it before my op but this aspect really worries me as i know that there is no specialists in the WLS feild where i come from and should anything go wrong god forbid i will have to go back to Belgium. Any way on a positive note i feel a little better this morning and although my tummy is not back to normal the pain is so much less.
Will try to post regular to my blogg but for now my babies are calling me so mummyhood calls!
