Hi to u all, my name is stephanie and i joined TT at the begining of feb but only posted a couple of times, also pm a few to gwen (thank for your help and advise gwen) anyway i have since received my date for surgery (lap gastric bypass) its on the 9th of may. So ithought i would tell you all about myself because i would love all your help and surport, so here goes i am 40years old and a typical yoyo dieter with a very sweet tooth i have been up and down with my weight most of my adult life, then i thought i cracked it, in sept 2004 weighting 19st (266lb) and very depressed, i remortgaged my house to have a lap-band surgery done private in telford in which i lost 7st(98lb).Then sept 2005* i started having problems i could not eat or drink anything and was in so much pain, i went to the er at the hospital near me in which they kept me in, they had no knowledge about the lap-band so i had to be put on a drip and on morphine untill they could speak to the surgeon who did the surgery, it took 6 days untill then in which he said to take the saline out of the band, as soon as they did i could feel the relief and i was decharged the next day. My doctor then referred me to a bariatric surgeon on the nhs which was on the other side of manchester, in the mean time the weight was creeping on. I got to see the surgeon who then by trial and error he flated and deflated the band over the on coming months untill it was right, thank god for the nhs. Then oct 2007 the pain and not being able to eat or drink came again, so i went back to er there they deflated the band but i was still in agony, so then i was x-rayed* which* shown the band had slip, the surgeon said he would have to operate to see if he could reposition it, but after surgery when he came to see me he said he had to remove it because my stomach was that badly inflamed and left any longer it could of ruptured my stomach. So now i have put most of my weight back on i am now £7500 down and nothing to show for it and 17st(238lb) up, so you can guess how i must be feeling, pretty low let me tell you. So know i've done a lot of research into the gastric bypass and* decided on that, so once again i have remortgage my house to pay for the surgery which i have decided to have in brudde with dr dillimens on the 9th of may hopefully this time the weight will come off and stay off. I have found this forum very helpful and it also help me make my mind up into having the gastric bypass, a big thanks to you all.

Wow, what a journey you've had! I'm so sorry about your whole lap-band fiasco. That must've been awful to go through. I wish you the very best of luck with gastric bypass. It has really worked for me, so far. Here's hoping I can just keep the weight off now. So, congratulations on starting this phase of your life and GOOD LUCK!!
