Six tests under my belt

Posted 11-10-2007 at 11:51 AM by LisaM
Have now aced the first six tests--one of only two in the class to do so at this point. And yes, I'm shooting for the top spot. What's the point in ever settling for less than we're capable of? Am loving my life at levels I was not sure was possible only a few short years ago. This feels so right. Just have to keep the pressures level. And so far, I'm doing that just fine.

First test passed with "flying" colors...:)

Posted 10-29-2007 at 05:42 PM by LisaM
Sorry, bad pun, couldn't help it... Aced my first test, it was just 50 of the airport three-letter codes. Tomorrow it's placing the airports on a map of the US, all the ones we fly to... about 75 destinations in all... some are repetitive. I'm pretty up for it. Right now, I've got 65 pages of General Operating Manual to read. It's mind-numbingly boring at the moment, with all the regs and what-not, but I like my schoolmates, and it's going to be fun.

There's a novel idea...

Posted 10-27-2007 at 09:46 PM by LisaM
Or an idea for a novel.

The woman sitting two seats down from her would not shut up, no matter how many dirty looks the instructor gave her. She continued to talk to the neighboring student in what she probably thought was a whisper, not quite loud enough to hear, not quite soft enough to ignore. Maddie rested her chin in her hands, wondering whether it was legal to murder someone just for being annoying. She was glad she had covered the lower part of her face only moments later...

Day two... paperwork and more paperwork

Posted 10-26-2007 at 02:19 PM by LisaM
And the paperwork continued for today. Since they have to satisfy the Federal Aviation Administration's standards, it's an interesting combination of "hurry up" and "wait!" No biggie. Out of 18 of us, only one is annoying, and I'm waiting for Mabel (older than me, and suffers NO nonsense) to take her to task. I'm betting on Mabel to last until about Wednesday next week before she breaks.

Today was also health, dental, life and vision insurances, drug and alcohol...

Speaking of brass rings...

Posted 10-25-2007 at 02:54 AM by LisaM
And my day begins at 4:30 a.m. Flight school (for flight attendant, not pilot ) begins in a few hours. I've covered everything I can, study-wise, I've learned 107 airports and their call codes. I've learned the geography of New England, which--sorry, Duckie, Gina, JenBear and the rest --was never of much importance to me before.

Now, I can write in the two-letter abbrevation of every single state into a map (harder than it sounds... try it sometime) as well as tell you which...
