shedding the weight...and my past.

Posted 11-06-2009 at 12:11 PM by kovy
it's amazing how just making a decision to do something can change so much...and i haven't even had surgery yet!
it's wasn't until i made the decision to have WLS that i was able to be honest with others, and myself, about where my horrible eating habits come from. looking back, it's not hard for me to see how connected it all was/is.

growing up, while my parents were still married, we were definitely poor. not that i ever realized til years later. my mother, in part from...

endings and beginnings

Posted 10-29-2009 at 03:15 PM by kovy
my story is one that i have heard so often from people who struggle with their weight. i have never known a time in my life when weight was not an issue. from as young as i can remember, i have been the fat girl. in fourth grade, during our weekly spanish class, we learned our spanish names. mine translated to isabella. by the end of the day i was hearing taunts of "isabella's got a belly!" by the time i was in 5th grade i weighed 135 lbs.

~DO NOT allow fear to hold me back!
~follow diet plan given to me.
~get family on healthy eating plan...it's not a diet, it IS a LIFESTYLE CHANGE!!
~walk as much as possible til healed.
~once healed, begin first day to 5k program.
~once completed, begin gateway to 8k.

pre-op goals

Posted 10-26-2009 at 05:07 PM by kovy
in no particular order....

~stay on top of all appointments to the best of my ability so it really will be "about a two-month process" like the dr. said.
~start walking a MINIMUM of two days a week on the three mile track
~start up with the couch to 5k program...if knees will allow
~begin shopping healthier for the family so it's not such a shock to everyone's system once i'm post-op and able to eat food again.
~get josh on here so he knows why...

here i go...

Posted 10-26-2009 at 04:59 PM by kovy
I suppose blogging would be the next logical step now that i've joined TT. i'll be getting as much knowledge in as i can beforehand, and trying to prepare myself as much as possible for life post-op, but there are bound to be bumpy times coming my way...i mean, such is life. my emotions are already running the gamut, i can't even begin to really imagine what it is going to be like once i am on the other side heading toward my goals.

speaking of goals...i should prolly set some....
