contemplating undergoing gastric bypass surgery

Posted 09-24-2007 at 09:58 AM by katy lee
Hi: my name is katy and i am 27 years old. I have struggled with my weight since i was 14. I am very active and i eat right but the weight doesnt come off. Ive done every diet under the sun, and taken diet pills: both prescription and over the counter. It seems that this is my only option. Ive researched both the gastric bypass and lap band procedures only to find out that even though the lap band procedure is less risky, the gastric bypass offers more long term weight loss. Ive discussed it with my aunt ( actually she brought it up. I have had 6 knee surgeries, have asthma, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and premature ventricular contractions. I am applying to nursing school next semester, and wanted to undergo the gastric bypass, so would be more able to withstand the rigors of 12hr shifts at the clinical sites. I am not a vain person, I just wanna be a healthy weight. Would someone tell me their experience with the procedure. I am asking my knee doctor his opinion on Oct. 1st. I am open to any feedback. Blog or email me

I am the same age as you are and had surgery 3/18/08 -- my health has improved 50% since then and will be at 100% soon. I strongly recommend it ... if I could have done it sooner I would have.
