A little about me and my family

Posted 07-23-2009 at 04:22 PM by jenrobbar951
*I am 29 years old
*Born and raised in California
*I am the eldest of three kids (my sister is 25 and my brother is 27)
*I married for the first time on Christmas Eve 2001 and divorced on Saint Patrick's Day of 2003. With my ex-husband I have Kyleigh, my eldest daughter.
*Kyleigh was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in April 2007, just weeks after my mother had brain surgery to remove 7 tumors. Kyleigh is in remission and just finished all treatments on June 11th, 2009. No more chemo, no more pills, no more lumbar punctures (spinal taps). She and my Mom are doing VERY well!
*My second daughter, Shaelin was born on November 23, 2004. Her biological father has NEVER been in her life and she is unaware that my current husband IS NOT her real father.
*I met my husband, Jeremy, in June 2004. I was already 4 months pregnant with Shaelin at the time we met. He was in the delivery room when Shae was born.
*Jeremy proposed to me EXACTLY one year after we met. I called him an "Asshole" when he pulled out the ring.....funny story actually.
*May 2006, the girls and I made our move to our current home. We moved into a home with my husband, who was my fiance then.
*August 2006, Ky starts kindergarten and LOVES it!
*Halloween 2006, I learned that I was pregnant and placed a wrapped pregnancy in a pumpkin for Jeremy to find. He was confused upon finding the test and had to be told what it was....hahaha!
*December 2nd, 2006, Jeremy and I were married at Treasure Island in Las Vegas surrounded by family and a handful of friends.
*March 20, 2007, (my Mom's 52nd birthday), my Mom learns she has brain cancer and is scheduled to undergo brain surgery to remove all 7 tumors on her brain. It is successful!
*April 6th, 2007, I take Kyleigh to the local Children's Hospital because her platelet count is severly low (the doctor told me that if I were to get into a car accident, Ky would bleed to death because of her platelet count). She is admitted to the hospital and on April 7th (the day before Easter), we are told that Ky has Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Ky is also removed from school for the remainder of the school year.
*April 13th, 2007, Ky is released from the children's hospital and declared "in remission." YAY!
*July 14th, 2007, a son is born. Gavin Nathaniel. Jeremy and I are overjoyed to welcome a boy to our family.
*January 2008, Kyleigh is allowed to return to school. Her bloodwork is good enough for social interaction in larger groups. She is made fun of on a daily basis because she is bald, due to chemo treatments. It breaks our hearts!!
*August 2008, Ky starts school with her classmates for the first time in two years. She is welcomed with open arms.
*May 2009, I begin actively searching for a surgeon to begin the process of weightloss surgery....
*June 2009, Kyleigh finishes 2nd grade with her classmates and Shaelin graduates from preschool at the local Baptist Christian Preschool.
*July 2009, both girls begin a reading program near our hometown, to advance them in school. Ky is struggling to catch up with classmates and Shae is entering kindergarten in August. I finish all the pre-op requirements and am waiting on word from the insurance company on a decision for weightloss surgery.

That is a BRIEF run-down of some of my adult life over the past few years. My family and I struggle from time to time, but what family doesnt? I am lucky enough to have parents who are willing to help me when we need the help......and who are supportive MOST of the time. I would love to be able to go back to school one day, although I am not sure what I would do. I am only 6 classes away from a BA in elementary education but have since had second thoughts on this major. I try to take my days, one at a time.

Wow, it sure sounds like things have been challenging for you and your family. I hope now is the time you can settle down and focus on yourself with the weight loss surgery. Having a strong support system during the process is crucial especially if you have small children. So happy to hear your mom and daughter are doing well. Keep us posted on your progress.
