Gastric Bypass Appointment 1
Goals, Plans, Hopes
Start Date: 01-28-09
First Weigh in-310
Surgeon-Dr. Roye @ RI Hospital.
So as many of you know i am going threw with having the Gastric Bypass surgery.
I am really excited to be making this Transition. Ive spent far to long unhappy with my body which has made me equally if not more unhappy with myself.
I cant wait to Hike and Bike ride, maybe learn to surf. I want to be able to do anything and not be limited to what my body will allow me to do.
And before i go on.....
I want to clear up a few things first.
*This surgery isn't a quick fix... it takes a lot of discipline and determination to retrain your body to eat differently, think differently, exercise regularly and so on.
*I'm having the surgery to improve the overall quality of Heath.
*For all of you who say "If you don't love yourself now you wont after the surgery" (FUCK OFF) You have no idea how i think or feel don't assume!
Lastly
*This is not a Vanity thing, but let me tell you I'm sure I'll be adorable! =P
OK now on to the details of my Appointment.
Wednesday I met with the Nurse Practitioner at RI Hospital who work for my surgeon, Everything went well. We went over the procedure, the in's and out's whats if's and such. She explained all the risks and complications which i was already well versed in seeing i have been reading about the surgery for like the last 9 months. The appointment went quite quickly and she said she was impressed with how much i already knew. She gave me some addition information that's required to be read and singed before surgery. Then she told me about what my Insurgence required before I can start Post op requirements with Dr.Roye.
My heath coverage requires
*1- visit to a Nutritionist - my insurance didn't cover nutrition.. so I'm paying $120.00 out of pocket to see her. (grrr)
That appointment is secluded for: Wednesday February 4th @ 11:00 am
*1-or-2- Visit's to a psychiatrist for a Psychiatric Evaluation.
My insurance does cover that. however the waiting list is 3 months long.
But i cant complain they don't ask me to have any sort of liquid diet prior to surgery or diet at all. She said try not to gain any weight in the mean time. But i am going to try and lose some weight before my surgery anyway to show im am motivated.
I have already cut out all diet soda
(because after the Bypass you cant have any carbonation)
Fruits and Veggies are my friend! - lol the snacks i have in the house with the exception of sugar free pudding! Yummmm
And i have been cooking from my Glycemic index cook book- more yummy stuff!
I'm hoping by the latest it'll be 6 months before i can set a Date for my surgery.
Which isn't to bad. I mean if i only have 6months to a Year left in this body!
That's completely doable lol
Well that's it for now... Ill keep you all updated as things happen.
-Amanda
ps. sorry it took sooooo long!

Isn't it exciting when you feel like you're getting closer and closer to dare I say "the new you". Thats how I look at it. Well, not really the "new" but the improved! I totally agree with what you say about people who think it's "the easy way out" and not thinking i'll be happy after if i'm not before. My younger sister thinks that, and its caused many fights... Goodluck with your journey darlin, keep me posted! I'm waiting to schedule the last few appointments before surgery. I'm hoping I will be able to have it beginning of March! *fingers crossed*
Katie Btw, whats the cookbook? I would LOVE to try it out! |
