This is my blog diary of my weight loss journey.

The reason I named it "Driving Sideways" is after the Aimee Mann song, "Driving Sideways." I like all kinds of music but the lyrics in this song in particular always made me envision being in a car. "Thin Everleigh" driving and "Fat Everleigh" reclined in the passenger seat.

I've always felt like a thin person underneath the weight.. the thin Everleigh I was supposed to be. I allow my fat unhealthy Everleigh sit back and do nothing and continue to guide me wrong (while assuming no responsibility for where I end up.)

I'm trying to drop off Fat Everleigh at her destination and continue down the road with just the thin me driving the car and making decisions.

This is the same endocrinologist who explained to me in August that the only long term proven weight loss method is bariatric intervention (i.e. surgery.) He HAD said that I could diet and exercise and lose the weight without surgery but I would have to resign to the fact that I would feel hungry most of the time and would HAVE to maintain a very regimented and organized life (whereas with the surgery, it gives you that extra tool..... Through all my diets and more importantly when I wasn't dieting, portion size was always important. Usually I know how much I'm eating I just get to a point where I don't care anymore. Well, not always, but you know, being big I sometimes rationalize with "well, what's a couple more pounds from this meal really gonna do anyway? I'm already overweight." 'It was NUT-in!' :) Posted 11-18-2009 at 09:27 AM by everleigh Nut appointment- COMPLETE! I had to bring my toddler with me (my very fussy little girl) and arrived a few minutes late due to traffic. I spent the first 3 or 4 minutes apologizing over and over again for being late, for having to bring my little one, I felt bad. The nutritionist was a really great lady. I have been a little blinded by dreams of WLS and have been spending almost all of my computer time on sites like this one and others that have forums of WLS people. Sometimes you feel like a nut... Posted 11-12-2009 at 06:12 PM by everleigh My nut appointment is set for next week! Yay!!! I just realized that I forgot to write on here that I HAVE told one other person about me getting WLS. In fact, this person helped inspire me to start my own journey as she is on hers.
