I shared my secret

Posted 10-07-2007 at 09:42 AM by Eseret
Last week at work my boss asked me why I was eating very little for my break and lunch. Another co-worker I've known for 7 years asked me if I was feeling well as she said I looked droopy and tired. And then another co-worker in a different setting asked if I was staving myself to lose the weight. No one knew I had GBS, they only knew of my hiatal hernia surgery.

During lunch that day, while we were all sitting around a table, I decided to spill the beans. I told them that yes, I do...

Teri's ten tips

Posted 09-29-2007 at 05:53 PM by Eseret
Some of these may be old...some new.

1. If you, or someone you know is hearing impaired and loves to bake, uses a timer, and is afraid of not hearing it ding...tell them to get a small timer and carry it around with them around the house, outside, etc.

2. If you own cats/dogs or pets that shed all over furniture or rugs...grab a pair of household gloves (playtex yellow ones) put them on and dip hands into water, then run hand over area with pet hair. Repeat dipping in water...

Ugh! I'm bushed! and very sore at the moment. I spent most of the late morning/early afternoon doing yard work. For the most part it involved cutting back several overgrown plants and shaping them. I still need to clean up the flowerbeds in that area, but that's gonna wait until tomorrow.

I used to do gardening all the time when I was thinner. I really had hoped losing 51 pounds (since GB initial meeting) would help me to be more flexible and finally enjoy gardening. Guess it's not...

Purging and shopping

Posted 09-15-2007 at 11:52 PM by Eseret
Earlier today I did some shopping for some pants to wear to work. The pants I had in my closet were becoming too baggy and threatening to fall off if I moved too fast.

So off I went...I decided to go to K-Mart cuz I knew I could get some pants that were cheap and at least looked halfway decent.

Looked in the Plus sizes and tried on the smallest size I could find. Way too big. Hmmm.

Wandered over to the Misses size....picked up some size 18 pants to try on and...

Reflections

Posted 09-09-2007 at 09:05 AM by Eseret
I'm back to work now and the first day back I had just 2 comments about my weight loss. One was from my boss saying that I had lost weight, the other was from a co-worker saying my face looked thinner. I'm not disappointed not to receive more praise or comments because I feel good about my progress thus far. I know that by the time school is out in June I could be another 50 pounds lighter. I'm not pushing to lose fast. I want this to go slow.

I feel good knowing how far I've...
