Purging and shopping

Posted 09-15-2007 at 10:52 PM by Eseret
Earlier today I did some shopping for some pants to wear to work. The pants I had in my closet were becoming too baggy and threatening to fall off if I moved too fast.

So off I went...I decided to go to K-Mart cuz I knew I could get some pants that were cheap and at least looked halfway decent.

Looked in the Plus sizes and tried on the smallest size I could find. Way too big. Hmmm.

Wandered over to the Misses size....picked up some size 18 pants to try on and they fit nicely. Which means I went from a Plus size 22 pant to a Misses size 18.

Came home and purged all of the too big clothes out of my closet and filled 4 sacks full. It was a little sad for me to lose all of the clothes and realize the money that was spent on them.

Now my closet looks like Mother Hubbard's cupboard. Not quite bare, but nearly there. I won't be buying more clothes until I'm a couple of sizes down again.

It was an interesting day.

Oh wow!!! How exciting!! I can't wait for that to be me. Your closet must look so sad, but it's really a happy occasion for you at the same time. I have a lot of cute clothes from Lane Bryant that I will be sad to see go. My mom actually turned to me this weekend and said, "oh no! All your beautiful clothes!" I'm definitely thinking about all the things I want to quickly wear before they go. I'm already a size down pre-op so my biggest pants are getting too baggy. yay and boo! And good for you -- keep it up!

That's fun Teri--

Have you seen this new show on Bravo called "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style"?? (I also watch "What NOT to Wear")...Tim Gunn (from Project Runway has a shopping list for the people on the show...essentials for your closet...basically outlining fashion basics for you to have in your closet...black dress, classic dress pants, trench coat..etc. Its just fun to watch..
but I decided when I do empty my "plus size closet" I will fill it only with things I love, that fit well, and look good on me...streamlining everything. I think sometimes as an overweight person..at least this was true for me...we buy lots of so-so things because nothing looks great. So here's to purging and shopping!!! Yay!!!

Now that I am 4 months post-op, I am totally having to face this challenge. It is truly shocking how very, very many clothes I own. I am filling up trash bags of clothes at an amazing pace. Just thinking about all the money I spent on those things that I can never wear again...wow! I have now gone from a size 28 pants and 24 top to a size 18/20 pants and size 16 top. YAY!!!
