No class last week because of the holiday - right back at it this week with a weigh in and group exercise class followed by an exercise lecture. However, I found out last week that I stress fractured my foot!

Whomp whomp :( My motto was all 'go big or go home' but I think I went too big :) I've got a big ol' walking boot for the next four weeks. Upside, I am allowed to bike as long as my foot doesnt hurt when I do it, so rather than jumping on the arc trainer during our exercise class, I got on a recumbent bike with huge pedals I could fit my boot into. My nephews love my big boot, they think it makes me look like a transformer :P

Two weeks ago, between the heat and some general apathy, I wasn't doing well in the motivation arena. I wasn't cooking, wasn't eating healthfully - the only thing I did was watch portions. I was eating crap, but at least it was...less crap? Funnily enough, after a few days of that, even looking at fast food had me nauseated, and I rebounded like crazy. Cooked every single night and made all my lunches except one for the work week. At my weigh in this week, I was a total of 10 pounds down from where I started. It's not amazing, but it's a start!

Saw the NP and had the official pre-surgery nutrition visit. Both said they see no reason I can't have surgery, although I need cardiac clearance thanks to a history of swelling around my heart. I already have the cardiology appointment scheduled, so now just a matter of getting my EGD done and finishing the last 3 months of classes!

Well at least you get the Transformer boot out of it! Glad to hear your exercise class has good adaptive strategies.

Funny how a little eating out will drive you to crave home cooking! Keep up your good habits - they'll help you later.

Woo hoo! Way to work out with your boot! That's dedication! Probably no fun wearing that in the heat. Congrats on 10 pounds lost. Well done!

Gotta love it. You did portion control while eating junk and lost weight. And you exercised wearing a boot. That is, er, a very handsome boot that you have there. You have been snatching these victories from the jaws of defeat.

Hope your Dad is well, your brother is recovered from his concussion, and you are thinking about how IVF will be easier with the weight loss you will have. Long term victories... just 3 more months to go...

@Jen581791 - it is funny - I go through spells of not wanting to cook every few months or so, but man I've never had a rebound to cooking like this :D I used to consider it a good week if I took my lunch twice....now its a good week when I take it all 5 times!

@Gretta - thank you! The heat was definitely the worst part of the first week although I'm starting to get used to it now. 92 degrees and 100% humidity is just not cool when your foot is encased in foam!

@BurgundyBoy - you're the best! Thank you for the kind words. I kinda was bummed on my lack of motivation but when you put it all together like you did, I feel better about it :) Dad and brother are doing pretty well, and yes, IVF is forever that long distance finish line! I need that reminder every so often!

(We can fail to see all the good in an imperfect world, and not recognize how much we have accomplished when we get to half our goal...)
