The Beginning of A New Me Part One

Posted 12-02-2008 at 12:03 AM by dvdwende
I should have posted this part first.

I've been married to a wonderful man for eight years. I'm 62 years young. I have four children. One of them passed away in 2002 from heart failure due to drug abuse and juvenile diabetes . More on that later. My other three children (2 girls and a boy) all live in Southern Calif. I have been blessed with seven grandchildren. I love each one more than the others!!! I'm very proud to say that my children, their spouses and my grandchildren all follow the Lord. If I never achieve anything else in this life... that is enough.

My husband is a Chaplain, pastor and teacher to 90-110 clients in a Christian residential drug rehabilitation program here in Reno, NV. We also meet once a week with addicts who are non-residential and teach from the book "Conquering Chemical Dependency". I was working as a Resource Specialist for a local non-profit but left their employ in June.

We have our own bookkeeping business and I'm starting a custom decorated denim clothing business, as well.

I met my husband on the internet, he was living in the Netherlands at the time. It made for an interesting courtship. At the time we met I worked for an airline so we were able to fly back and forth to get to know each other. We married in Westerbork, Holland and honeymooned in Ireland. Wonderful! Want to go back there again.

Our marriage has been the best thing that ever happened to me besides having my children and grandchildren. Our communication is very entertaining at times, the differences in language, culture, backgrounds. He was born in Holland but grew up in Australia, he speaks Dutch, French and English with an Australian accent!

I've struggled with weight issues most of my life. Tired of "dieting". It seems the more I try the more I gain. But that's why I'm here, on this board, I WANT MY LIFE BACK!!!!

I started the ins required food replacement diet on Sat 11/22. the program is through UNR here in Reno. The food actually tastes quite good. I'm having trouble getting in all the required food and shakes. This is a real surprise for me and encouraging. I thought it was going to be a starvation type diet (based on previous weight loss programs I tried).

I would like to hear from people that have been on this program for recipe ideas and tips. Anyone out there have to go through the UNR program.

I'm thinking about the possibility that this program will really work and I won't have to have my intestines rearranged. Any thoughts on that???

Thanks for reading, Dianne
