Starting to feel like this will happen

Posted 09-21-2007 at 10:51 AM by terriB
So here's the deal. I've been overweight my whole life. Never as large as I am now. My weight at the nutritionist was 361.

I'm in the process of scheduling all the appointments. I have a psyschologist appointment next week. I did most of the lab work yesterday. I'm still have 15lbs to loose plus I need to start my exercise program and have my sleep study and upper gi. I'm thinking that surgery around Christmas would be good. I'm so large my doctor is recommending Duedenal Switch. Yes I can't spell and this surgery won't fix anything. I feel like crap from being so overweight and I don't want to feel that way anymore.

Here is my goal - By this time next year I want to fly to florida with my husband and my kids and go on a cruise with them plus spending a couple of days wandering around disney world. I want to walk without pain through disneyworld and enjoy the whole trip.

A year may not be long enough but if not next year then the year after.

Hi, I am having my first appointment with my consultant tomorrow morning. I am so nervous. My doctor told me they will be very hard on me and try to dissuade me from having surgery as it is so expensive so I'm not looking forward to the appointment. But back to the point of this message. I share the same goals as you with regard to going to Disney World and "fitting" on all the rides and the seat on the plane. And walking around without getting swollen legs and backache. I keep looking at the progress of the people on this site and I can't believe it might one day be me.

Anyway just wanted to wish you good luck and let you know not everyone on this site has already lost all the weight. I am feeling like the hardest battle will be to get the op approved in the first place. But if it is then I am so ready for the challenge.

Hope everything goes well for you. :-)

I know your nervous about everything. im thinking about having the gastric bypass done. I am 215 right now and would like to lose 60-80 lbs. i have had multiple knee surgeries, i have asthma, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and premature ventricular contractions. Dont let anyone try to dissuade you. I am going to talk to my knee doctor about the gastric bypass on Oct. 1st. Hopefully he gives me the greenlight. If he does then Ill make an appt. Mon. afternoon to see a bariatric surgeon over @ Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
