I feel so sad

I got a message tonight saying my former mother-in-law was in the hospital in ICU and not expected to make it. She's 79, and has been on dialysis for several years now. Her system simply can't take it anymore and they are shutting down.
I met Ellie in 1968 when I went "steady" with her son Bob. Ellie took me under her wing and has always been Mom even though my marriage to Bob ended in divorce. Her statement then was, "Don't you dare ever divorce me!"
It was difficult seeing her in the hospital tonight...very frail and old. She's having difficulties breathing and I suspect she won't make it much longer.
I stood at her bedside and talked to her about the good times we've shared and how much I loved her. I know she heard me as she turned her head several times.
I just hope and pray God takes her swiftly now into His arms so she will no longer suffer.
God Bless you Mom, I love you.
