The Rosebud Dress

I have never failed to lose weight. I have only failed to keep those pounds from returning. During my last "regain" eight years ago, I purchased the cutest little sheath dress. Of course, it didn't fit at that time, but I estimated that I only needed to lose 10 pounds to get in it. The dress was on sale (imagine that!). It was white with little rosebuds on it. It was precious, and I just had to have it. I wasn't able to fit in it that spring or the one after that. And pretty soon, it was relegated to the closet in the spare bedroom with all of the other clothes that were too small. (Funny how I never got to put clothes that were too BIG in that closet!)
Well, this weekend, I dug through the last box of "skinny" clothes that were sitting in the garage. Yes, now I can't even justify keeping that dress in the closet in the spare bedroom! There was the rosebud dress. For eight years, that dress has represented my failure to stop regaining weight. Now, that dress is hanging on the back of my bedroom door in full view. My goal is to wear the rosebud dress by August 3...five months after surgery. This time, that dress will symbolize my success.

Your rosebud dress sounds pretty, and I'm sure that you'll get into it by August 3rd...in fact, it might even be too big by then! Be sure to have a picture taken in it, and show it off to all of us here.
I had a dress like that too, except mine was black with gold polka dots. Now when was the last time polka dots were in style? 1991 or so? It almost fit when I bought it on clearance...another 10 or 12 lbs would have done the trick. Just last year I finally got rid of it, with the price tag still on it. |
