Home from the hospital......

Posted by ChargersPrincess17, 05 April 2012 · 236 views

I am home from the hospital, I got home yesterday evening. I had my surgery on Tuesday, I had to be at the hospital at 6:15am and my surgery was at 9:15am. Everything was on time as scheduled I was being taken in to the operating room at 9:00am. The last thing I remember before waking up in recovery was them giving me some oxygen and one of the nurses saying that she was going to hold my hand. Once I woke up they took me up to my room. Every patient gets a private room which a private bathroom which is nice. The whole nursing staff did an excellent job. After the first hour I was in my room. I started walking every hour on the hour, I had a nurse help me the first time but after that I was good to go on my own. All the nursing staff seemed very impressed with how much I was walking and how well. Also they all seemed impressed with how well I was handling everything including the pain.  My surgeon told my mom and grandma that the surgery went well and that I had fantastic anatomy on the inside which made surgery easier. I have a total of five incisions. When my surgeon came to see me on Wednesday morning he said the chart of my vitals was fantastic he said I was the poster child for how a vitals chart should look after surgery. We were given a coughing pillow that looks like a moose that they call it Bari Moose. I will post a picture of my Bari Moose later.  So far everything has gone pretty smoothly. Today after finally being able to get some real sleep, couldn’t really sleep to well in the hospital I feel pretty good and a lot better than yesterday. If things keep going like this and the pain keeps getting a little bit better every day I think by next Tuesday if not sooner I should be pain free. Just taking everything one day at a time. I know every day that passes I will feel better and better and get back to 100%. Right now I am just trying to focus on walking and getting all my liquids in, I am doing a pretty good job so far.

thats great news. im happy for you!!!! I hope you have a speedy recovry my dear:)

I had my consult with Dr Mueller today and have my psych and medical clearance tomorrow. Then all I have to do is wait for the insurance and start a diet.

So happy for you! I had my surgery on Saturday and moving along quite well. I would say my pain level is mostly a 0 with the occasional 1 thrown in for good measure. We are going through this with about the same timeline. Best of luck to you!!
