Exceptions to the pre op diet
Pre Op weight loss reduces the amount of fat in the liver, makes the surgery technically easier and often safer, decreases excess water weight by limiting salt intake, often improves respiratory function, may help decrease blood pressure, improves exercise tolerance, and can improve diabetic control. With sufficient weight loss, medications may often be reduced or eliminated.
So there are lots of good reasons to lose weight before surgery.
Practical answer:
A reasonably sized meal that's not loaded with salt a couple of days before surgery probably isn't going to make much of a difference. On the day before surgery it's best to eat light; stick to a 800-1000 calorie intake.
Tough love answer:
Why not celebrate your success so far by doing something else that you enjoy. Celebrate with a hike or go to the lake or a beach, visit to a zoo or museum, take time with relatives just chatting or doing something other than eating you all like to do, have a romantic evening. Your key to lasting weight control will be to lead a less food centric life. Healthy food is essential for a healthy body, and a healthy body goes a big way to having a healthy mind and spirit.
Your question sounds a lot like asking for permission to do something that you know isn't in your best interest. It might be form of bargaining. Be careful as you move forward not to talk yourself into things which aren't best for you.
Good luck.
