Default Awful feeling

I am 6 weeks post GBP and I am still on soft foods. Now and again I get this awful feeling that food is stuck in my oesophagus and I am choking. I then have to vomit. After I vomit I cant eat a thing. This happened last night and since then I have a very nauseous feeling along with diarrhoea. Plus my whole abdominal cavity is rumbling like a vocano! I sometimes feel like my oesophagus has been narrowed. Is this normal?

I would suggest that you talk with your surgeon about your situation, and attend his support groups. He knows you best and can give you the best advice.

There's definitely a learning curve after obesity surgery. I'm always worried if my patients say that things are getting worse as time goes on. If you can gradually eat thicker foods and have the occasional "dietary misadventure" you're normal.

When people who were doing well after gastric bypass develop problems eating foods that they're used to, I worry about the development of a marginal ulcer. Sometimes stomach rumbling can be caused by lactose intolerance. Of course there are lots of other possibilities, but these are a couple that we see from time to time.
