Default Howdy Neighbour!

Hi from Edmonton.

I'm going to have my RNY surgery on March 31st. 13 years ago I had vertical gastric band. It didn't last. After 2 kids the weight came back and xrays revealed it was no longer valid so here I am going for the different procedure. I am seeing Dr. Davey and, I don't know if it is because I have had previous experience with gastric surgery, I got through very quickly. In just a few months and a few visits with the dietician I'm scheduled.
I already have a huge scar from the 1st operation but I'm going to have a tummy tuck when I get to goal so hopefully that will be greatly diminished.
I didn't have any depression other than the usual monthly blues.
I'm expecting to have a 6 week recovery barring no added complications as it is major surgery.
I'm pretty nervous but also so excited to finally have made the decision to get my life back. I know it's not going to be a cake walk but this is going to be a huge incentive and boost for my lifestyle changes.
So good luck, whatever your decision.

P.S. Alberta girls ROCK!

I had open RNY surgery and I have a 3 1/2" scar. I'll include a picture below from about 4 weeks after surgery. It's a little pinker now and about 1/4 cm wide and healing nicely.

I have to tell you though, it does not bother me at all. As bad as I've felt about my body and the way it's looked for years, the scar is nothing. It's a Badge of Honor as far as I'm concerned and when I first posted a picture of it on the forum, someone told me that it was hot, and that girls liked guys with scars. I don't remember who said it, but I remember how it made me feel. When I go to the pool next summer, I've gotta story to tell--I'm interesting beyond my fat rolls. I don't have to tell all my secrets, but it's nice to look like I've got some.

You'll be fine. A friend who had her surgery done laproscopically has just tiny little dots as scars--that could pass for moles--so you may have even less to worry about!

Take care, and good luck!

-Mike
Than you for posting I have been wondering how bad its going to be...Hmm maybe I'll get a new Tat!
